Joseph pondered for a moment and answered thoughtfully, "Of course not." Chloe's spirits lifted visibly, her vitality returning. "Really?" "Yes, a maid is far more diligent and obedient than you." Chloe was speechless. Joseph chuckled softly. 'But your position is slightly higher than that of a housemaid.' To put it bluntly, he had considered her to be beneath even a maid. The definition of a maid was someone who cooked well and was hardworking. The first meal she had cooked was disastrous. She even ended up in the hospital after eating it.

Now, I’m ready to embrace the day and whatever adventures it may bring. A soft knock force me to look up. Another maid walked up to me and took my purse, and Gerald pushed my luggage that I had quickly packed together to that same maid too. "Please take these up to Miss Sophia's room. And make sure that the room is well cleaned," he ordered her. The maid nodded her head, and went off to do as she was asked. I noticed that the house was run perfectly well. The last time I was here, being in this house had given me an eerie feeling and I wasn't quite sure why. I figured it out now, it was because the style of the house, everything inside of it and even the way the maids and butler behaved, resembled a medieval palace.

Inside the house, everything looked too perfect, too clean to be real. The walls were painted pure white, so white that they almost glowed under the golden lights. The floor reflected everything, smooth and shiny like glass. Even the air smelled expensive. My eyes caught the line of maids standing by the wall, each one dressed in a neat black and white uniform. They stood in a perfect row, hands folded in front of them, eyes down. None of them dared to look at me. It was as if I were something sacred or cursed. “Our lady’s room has been arranged,” said one of them. She was older than the rest, with sharp eyes, her hair neatly pinned back. It means this mansion won’t accept slow-minded maids who can’t quickly grasp commands.” “Correct.” We reached a massive wooden door. He pushed it open, and my eyes widened. It was breathtaking. The library stretched wide, its shelves climbing toward the ceiling, even reaching into a second floor. Rows upon rows of books, polished wooden tables in the center, and study corners along the sides—it felt less like a private library and more like a grand public one.
