"Stop looking at those books, Valeria!" she screamed at me one night. I'd be delighted to give you a tour. There are so many beautiful and interesting things to see. Let's start with the grand library, where you can immerse yourself in a world of knowledge and stories."

With happy heart Emily stepped into the area of the house that looked very quiet. Emily gulped, how could she possible be able to clean every corner of this house by herself? When the main door opened, Emily was even more surprised to find several housemaids doing their jobs. If the specter family had this many servants, why would they want to hire a employees for such high fee? Emily began to feel strange. "You are Emily Clark ?" a middle aged maidservant greeted her expressionlessly. Emily nodded her head. "Fellow me," said the maid servant as she walked straight ahead, while Emily followed her awkwardly.

CASSANDRA'S POV She opened the front door, and I stepped inside, my heels clicking softly against the floor. The moment I entered everything about the house screamed wealth. The lights above, the wide staircase that spiraled upward like something out of a movie. A maid hurried over immediately, bowing slightly as she reached out to take our bags. I didn’t even try to hide the smirk forming on my face. She was small, timid-looking, her hair neatly tied into a bun. She probably thought she was being polite, but to me, it felt like power — my power, for once.

They were nothing but furniture in this house of hollow nobility. As I reached the entrance, my eyes narrowed slightly. Why the fuck was this house so damn bright? The overhead chandeliers bathed the grand foyer in warm golden hues— Too perfect. Too artificial. Like a staged scene from a fairy tale where everything gleamed just a little too much. It made me disgusted. Walking in further, my gaze flickered toward the maids, their arms piled high with freshly pressed sheets, their steps quick and methodical. Until they saw me. And then—

Moldark’s residence towered like a skyscraper and every wall was filled with bookshelves that were closed to the top, just below the stained glass windows. “Don’t you guys have any maids to clean this place?” asked Vero to the maid, who was turning on the lights. The maid stared at her for a long time and the reflection from the dim lamp she turned on cast a black shadow on her corpse-like face. “No,” she replied, in the same robotic tone as before. Vero turned around and looked up. At least this place didn’t smell bad but instead had the smell of dust and scraps of old books. “What should I clean?” asked Vero.

“They say it’s always so messy and specially for punishment “ she added turning to face me with a clenched jaw. “Punishment?” I asked surprised. Why would Mrs Adams want to punish me? I can’t think of anything I’ve done wrong. Why does she despise me? Isn’t working here as a maid punishment enough? Mary finally stopped in front of a wooden door covered in cobwebs. I heard the sound of a heavy gulp before she pushed the door open. It was a normal sized room with nothing but boxes and dirt. It wasn’t as bad as they said. There was one thing that was certain in this mansion. Everyone either gossips, spreads rumors,exaggerate or lie.
