The Human Chair Novels & Stories

I answered happily. "So it's perfect," she said, shaking her hair absent-mindedly. "You can sit in my chair, I'll look for another one in the meeting room later. The best advantage of this job is not having to tire your legs, so take advantage and sit down soon.” I obeyed promptly, and almost took a tumble from the chair. I was used to the wheeled chairs with simple backrests on the lower floors, and not to a chair with a high and padded backrest that leaned back like a spring. I didn't even weigh that much and I was still having a hard time finding the right way to sit. And Julya laughed when I straightened up with a little scream of shock.

Weeks gone and Alicia was left sitted on an opaque chair. It was well polished with an outstanding brown deliquesce and Obama paint. The smooth surface was rather alluring and shinny. The chair has four slender but long legs which was crisscrossed by wontonly to gain a desired balance.

The maids serve their first course. The chair is comfortable that Marianne feels so relax. To be seated on a proper chair which she has not done for sometime is a luxury to her. Annie smiles at her friend and then made a comment “That chair suits you. I call it the 'The Queen’s Chair'. It would've been better if we don’t see that wheelie chair in the background, so please get into your program quickly so we can ditch that.” Marianne rolled her eyes “Don't you have any decency that you would bully a pitiful disabled person like me. Oh by the way, no need to remind me that as I know it very well, Miss Annie Moore! No need to say any moore_”

But these chairs are never filled. David’s office is beautifully elaborate. He has a large black leather chair, which would look incredibly tacky was it not for the fact that it goes so well with the large oak table. He has a set of three trays on his desk; one each for “In”, “Out”, and, as someone has jokingly written (he’s not sure who but he has his suspicions), “Shake it all about”.

“I am Jack, the director of Robotics. We’ve developed something a little different from just robots.” I was curious. “This project is for bedridden or paralyzed children.” The lights dimmed slightly, and they wheeled in what looked like a high-tech chair—sleek, polished, and humming softly. “It’s a robotic chair,” he continued, “designed to transform into the child’s favorite… marvel superhero—” I tilted my head curiously. Marvel ? Before I could ask questions, the chair shifted. Panels slid. Parts rotated. Metal folded with smooth clicks. I grabbed Leo’s arm.

Oliver I hit the enter key hard enough to make the laptop screen wobble. Chana doesn’t even blink, her eyes glued to her own monitor. "If you crack the casing on that, you can explain it to Kir." "The hardware is fine," I snap. My right leg is bouncing. It’s been bouncing for the last hour. The dining chairs in this rental are made of some kind of unyielding, ridiculously expensive antique wood, and sitting on them is an exercise in applied torture.

My eyes settled on the chair in the center of the room and my blood ran cold. It didn't look like a normal chair. Heavy metal restraints dangled from the armrests and legs, thick leather straps hung loose, and clusters of wires snaked across the frame like veins, connecting to a humming machine behind it. The seat looked unforgiving, with small metal nodes embedded where a person’s back and thighs would press. It screamed deliberate cruelty and wickedness. I didn’t know what it was exactly, but every instinct screamed that it was built to break bodies and minds.

"It's not just a data vault. It's a brain." "Then what are we inside of?" Clara asked. "Something very old... or very unfinished," Elodie replied. --- They reached the central chamber - a vaulted atrium with concentric rings of server panels spiraling upward like the ribs of a mechanical beast. In the center: a chair. Lyra stopped cold. "I've dreamed of that chair since I was ten." Mirabel cocked her head. "Looks like an execution seat." Elodie pointed at the base. "No wires. No restraints. It's neural interface. It was made for her."

Some parts of the room are engulfed in total darkness. In the middle of the room, there are twenty chairs arranged in two rows. The seats are divided into four parts, separating the chairs into five each and creating a four-way intersection. There is a chair right at the middle of the intersection and all the seats in the middle are taken. "Kieran, who's that at the middle?". "That's the chairperson and those are the judges". Another thing that catches Annaliese's eye is a very beautiful woman who has the lower body of a dragon and a scorpion tail with snakes around her ankles.

Two men smiled and moved on from the nipple exploration they had been enjoying. After a few more minutes Nick told them to stop and drop their hand to their side. Then Nick held up another sign for the assistants. "SHUFFLE & RETURN, WOMEN" it said. The assistants moved women around and returned them to the position they had been in on the platforms. Then Nick held up the next sign, "CHAIRS, MEN" and a chair was placed behind each man, half an inch behind his legs. They were non-folding chairs with a back but no arms. Each had a folded towel on the seat. When all the chairs were in place Nick spoke again.
