I watched for a moment before walking toward my door. As I was shutting it, I heard Elena whisper, “Go get your man, Auntie.” I shook my head. That girl was a disaster walking, and I absolutely adored the organized chaos that was Elena. I quietly crept down the stairs before slipping out the back door and into the forest. I stopped beneath his tree, looking up, scanning the tree for him but not finding him. “I know you’re here, ‘Sprey. I can feel you.” He sighed as he swung himself down out of the tree. “Hey, Scarlett. I was just leaving. I was hunting a squirrel. They’re fast and good to hunt to keep myself fresh and-”

We all got out of the cars and Ryan grabbed my hand and we walked towards the bouncer who was keeping a lot of people outside waiting before they got into the club. He was one of us though. And he definitely knew Ryan, so he let us all go through straight away. We went inside and saw a lot of werewolves inside. We didn’t know who they were, so they were from different packs, but they were definitely werewolves. Now we just had to make sure that no fights broke out between different packs. That was always a problem in these sorts of places. We went straight up to the bar and Ryan ordered his drink and ordered my usual. A shot of tequila chased down by a rum and coke.

Victor’s POV Harrison Hunt could not stop staring. The creature lying on the floor of the hallway was a wolf. There was no denying the reality of it. Its silver gray fur shone under the bright chandelier lights. The wolf looked weak, and helpless. But Harrison could not forget what wolves meant to him. For years, he had hated them with a passion. He blamed them for taking his wife away. He had promised himself that if he ever saw a wolf again, he would shoot it without hesitating.

Then, out of that void, a figure stepped forward. Tall. Broad-shouldered. Clad in black leather that seemed to absorb the moonlight. His face was hidden beneath a hood, but his presence—goddess above, his presence—was suffocating. It pressed against me the way Damon and Lucas’s dominance did, only sharper, like knives instead of claws. “Finally,” the hunter said, his voice low and smooth, carrying a deadly calm. “The fated wolves, united in one den. How generous of you to gather.”

I can feel blood trickle down from my head and conclude this must be what happens after the trunk opens in my first vision. I concentrate to slow my breathing so I don’t panic. Everything seems to darken suddenly, but I can still hear the busyness of the city. The trunk flies open and I see a man with a tattoo of a cross through a crescent moon, letting me know he’s a hunter. He easily picks me up and throws me over his shoulder. “Stop squirming mutt.”

A figure emerged from the tree line—a tall man with the unmistakable confidence of someone who thought he was in control. Benton Nye. I had only seen his picture in the dossier Hana provided on the drive from the farm to the park. His picture had been burned into my mind—a man with sharp features, dark hair, and a smirk that barely concealed his arrogance. The dossier detailed his role as the leader of the American Hunter Association, his calculated brutality, and his obsession with destroying the supernatural and avenging his mentor, Sakina Adio. He didn’t just kill supernatural beings—he studied them, broke them, and experimented on them.

Tonight’s job had been gruesome, one of the worst Ted had had to deal with. Getting information from a rogue wolf about an organized criminal syndicate was a difficult job but as always, Ted was a patient man and his skills for torture were unmatched. It was a quality that made him one of the most respected Hunters in the city. So far he had been able to keep the Don safe from another assassination attempt and while it had been an ugly job, he had tonight and the next few days to forget about the gruesome nature of his job.

He guides me through the hallways, almost like he knew the place. “Have you killed Hallen?” I had to know. Surely it would be the first thing he will do. “No.” “Why not? He is the one that’s doing all this.” “Because there is a code between Wolves and Vampires.” “A code? Logan hasn’t mentioned any code!” “Hallen has not killed a wolf yet. There will be a war, but it will be a mutually agreed war. Unless Hallen kills a wolf or someone from the pack kills a vampire first. Logan really didn’t explain that to you?”

Both of them shared a glance before starting to eat. Later, Ivano bid goodbye to Taylah, who took a train back to her city. As soon as he saw her off, he returned to his company and ordered the country’s top-notch hackers to find out who started it. “Are you nuts, Ivano?” Zander burst through the door, only to witness Ivano’s rage simmering in his glare. “What do you want?” Ivano asked. “You’ve gone crazy, Ivano… You hired top-notch hackers to find those people… throwing money around like water. Man, the next match is next week, and no one has stepped forward to sponsor us.”
