I lurch forward, wrapping Lena in my arms when Brax slams his foot on the brakes. The tires squeal, and the car fishtails, but Brax holds us steady.
“I mean, I know now he wasn’t actually a mate, it didn’t feel like this at all,” Lena starts to ramble, but Brax isn’t paying any attention to her, instead he stares out the window in front of us, his face paling.
“I guess we don’t need to wonder how far behind us the Stonehollow Pack was,” Brax says his eyes scanning the forest in front of us. “It seems they’ve found us.”
