FROZEN BONDS: THE HALF-BLOOD'S MATE
"And right now, the pack needs meat."
---
The hunting party left at midday.
Lyra led them through the forest, her senses sharp, her body low. The other hunters followed her lead, their movements silent, their focus absolute. They had been training for this. They were ready.
The tracks were fresh—a herd of deer, moving east toward the mountains. Lyra signaled to the others, and they spread out, surrounding the herd, cutting off their escape.
The hunt was swift and clean. The deer fell one by one, their bodies collapsing into the snow, their blood staining the white ground. The hunters worked quickly, field dressing the kills, loading the meat onto sledges made of branches and hide.
