Her eyes fell on a book with a black cover, the gold letters reading: “The Art of Breaking Chains.” She pulled it free, curiosity winning, and curled into his leather chair. The chair was far too big for her, swallowing her small frame, but she felt oddly safe in it. Before she realized, her eyelids grew heavy. The book slipped onto her lap as she drifted into sleep. Hunter returned late, his mood thunderous after the ring, after Geret. His mind was sharp, his body burning with violence he hadn’t been able to unleash fully. But the instant he stepped into the quiet house, he sought her.

Chapter 41 Third Person POV “She won’t wake up, why won’t she wake up? Did I hit her too hard? No, no, no I didn’t. She deserved it. She didn’t listen to me, she stayed with him.” Hunter pauses and looks at Sadie laying on a mattress he found in the Cabin he bought under a different name. He starts pacing again. “She didn’t leave him. he survived he survived the fire. I made sure he wouldn’t, and he still did. I thought they were done but she went to see him and spent time with him even though he didn’t remember her. why would she want to be with him when she can be with me. we’re meant for each other. She can’t be with him; she needs to be with me. I love her. He doesn’t love her like I do.

“People like Hunter… they want to save everyone. But sometimes, sweetheart, you can’t save someone who doesn’t want saving.” Her words struck deep. I wanted to argue, to tell her that I did want to be saved, that I didn’t want this life of running and hiding. But what good would it do? She wasn’t wrong. At this point, I wasn’t sure if there was any saving left for me. Maybe all I could do was keep running, keep surviving long enough to make sure Rowan didn’t destroy anyone else. I knew he could read, but I just thought he was more of a picture-person than words-person since he usually read Playboy. The book in his hand, however, wasn't a magazine; it was actually a real book. A thick one, I observed. I moved closely without making any noises then took the book from right under his nose. "Man, give it back! I'm not finished!" Hunter crossed his arms in front of his chest and looked at me annoyed.

‘The hunters’ was all it said on the front, the same book Kyan and Zekan had spent days looking for. I quickly dashed out of the library and headed straight to see Talon. I pushed his heavy doors open to see him sitting in his large chair looking thoughtfully as Zekan and Kyan both sat at the centre table. They all looked straight at me as I bounded into the room. “I found this!” I rushed out as I held out the book to Talon. He looked at it as his eyes widened. “The book about the hunters!” He breathed out as he took it from me. Both Kyan and Zekan stood up from their seats in surprise.

As I was trying to come up with a plan for taking down the last hunter on watch without being detected something came crashing out the window. It was one of the two hunters that were searching inside. The one I had just been planning on killing checked his friends pulse before cursing and jumping through the now shattered window. It seemed they found Mom and she was pissed. I could hear her wolf losing her shit. I jumped in just in time. My mom had her claws digging into the chest of the other hunter that had been searching the house. However she was not moving or completing the kill.
