Then someone in the crowd sneered, their voice dripping with sarcasm. "Oh, that must be Sophia's sugar daddy. Showed up to defend her. She's not picky, is she. She'll take a guy in his fifties." The crowd erupted. Some covered their mouths, laughing. Others joined in openly. "Yeah, I heard she doesn't care about age. Maybe this old man's a regular too." The dean's expression tightened. He turned sharply toward the crowd. "All of you–shut your mouths!" He glanced at my injuries, his voice urgent.

"There's no 'but,' and definitely no 'what if.' The reason I waited until today to say anything is that I knew that until you saw Jared for who he really was, you'd only have eyes for him. "You couldn't see anyone else at all. If I had rashly told you all this back then, it would have only backfired." He was right. In those ten years, my world had shrunk down to nothing but Jared. For him, I had given up my career, my friends, and myself. I was like a bird locked up in a gilded cage, convinced that it was happiness. I had no idea that somewhere just out of sight, someone had been waiting for me all along.

I couldn't care if his head cracked. “That hurt,” he whined as he robbed the spot, but I felt satisfied at my revenge. “You psycho Joker!” I said ready to hit him again when he grabbed my wrist. “Joker is a psycho already so your sentence is redundant. It's just like saying ‘you black charcoal'” he said and continued laughing. “What are you so insufferable?” I couldn't help but ask, “I feel like pulling my hair out just talking to you. Who knew you had this side of you too?”

“Stop being a fucking coward.” Joker’s face hardened. His ice-blue eyes looked even more white and deadly than usual. He placed both hands on my chest, pushing me backward. “You don’t know shit! Shut the fuck up and get out!” He pointed to the door, and the rest of his body looked visibly shaking.

"But since we're on the topic of roles, you do know your time will come too, right? Just like I and Osiris failed. So will you, and if you don’t die on the job like Osiris, you'll end up…. Just. Like. Me!” They laughed. Loud and obnoxious, one was a grating sound in my ears. The other? Sounded forced. "You’re something else. Seriously. I almost don’t wanna break your face." Joker drawled, wiping a false tear from his eye. "Almost?" I smirked. That one pissed him off, cause he slapped me. Hard across the face. My head snapped sideways, not really… just for dramatic flair. I let it hang, motionless. "Hey. Don’t kill him yet." Spear Guy said.

Officer Joe said. "You're making the biggest mistake in your life. Even your D.P.O can't mess with me. I understand you're those young police who wants to be promoted for being diligent with their job, but it will only end in shame for you." Prince jeered. "Don't worry Mr. Prince I promise to personally bring out the beast in you and expose all your evil deeds. You can now take your leave." Officer Joe said. "Joker. You're still a child." Prince ridiculed him and left the station.
