As the heavy double doors of the pack house were pushed open by the royal guards, the sight outside stopped me in my tracks. I hadn't expected the entire Silver River Pack to be gathered outside. Standing dead center at the front of the crowd was Alpha Kane, his face ashen. Beside him was Catherine, along with the exact same pack members who had trampled on my dignity, spat at me, and taken sick pleasure in humiliating me for years. But today, their eyes were different. “You know me too well, nephew. The Alpha King has invited you to the palace... You’re one of the candidates he’s considering as a future mate for his daughter.” I blink, then stare at him flatly. “I’m not interested.” His grin widens. “Figured you’d say that. Smoke screamed at the young girl sitting on the throne surrounded by subordinates. The girl's outer ring of her eyes flashed golden as she leaped up and screamed “MATE!” Everyone was startled as it dawned on them that the Mad Alpha had her wolf, that her mate was the future Alpha King, and that her inlaws were the Moon Goddess and God of War. This was unprecedented! The Alpha King watched as his son slowly approached this stranger, when it all suddenly clicked as the pieces fell into place in his mind. I know what King is trying to do, and so far, it’s working. “Yes, I killed the Alpha!” I swear silence descends over all of us before growls erupt. “I did NOT kill the Luna. If my mate was any wiser, he was going to run away because the Alpha king was very strong. "And him?" He asked coldly. "His is just a useless old beta standing in my way of getting to the Alpha queen." I answered as my wolf growled furiously at me. How dumb was she, couldn't she tell I was saving him for her!. Startled, I took a step back, my eyes wide with alarm. “Ahh, well, he’s an America. His name is Lucca Mariano.” I pulled out my phone and quickly Googled my friend’s mate. I chose the photo from Architectural Digest, the one of him standing in front of the castle, I had to admit, he was absolutely gorgeous. Strong, dark, and handsome, everything an Alpha should be. Great fate I know. Today The Alpha King is sending a car for me because I did not find my mate and unfortunately I will be at his disposal.
