Emma's POV In the enchanting embrace of this Paradise, nights unfold with a chill that sweeps through the air, carried by the gentle whispers of the wind. The screen cut to black, then faded into Lake—present day, standing in front of a window at the retreat cabin, the wind brushing his hair. “She left before I could tell her... it stopped being fake the second she laughed at one of my dumb jokes. I wish I told her that sooner.” The screen faded. Applause erupted. Lights came up. Lake stepped onto the small stage, visibly nervous. Dressed in a simple black tee and jeans, he looked older.
