I sat down on a large rock and just stared at the lake I now owned. Leslie told me that it was named Lunar Lake and that there is a waterfall on the opposite side. There is a small mountain as well, with cliffs that hang over the lake. I wondered if I could get a jet ski and have some fun on the lake or just get a small boat to take out to the middle and do some fishing.

The lake mirrors the night sky on Earth but its waters rejuvenate our souls and restore our energy. “Take your time Morrigan for when you emerge, you will be refreshed and ready to face the dragon that is your father”. I laugh at her imagery. “You are so dramatic Selene, but not wrong”. I let my tunic fall. The lake shimmers under the beauty of lunar light. Rippling with the intrusion of my limbs, sending an echo throughout the body of water. The body appears black as night with a billion glowing blebs akin to stars in the sky. The blebs are moonstones that hold magic which charge the water.

Tears cloud my eyes and I moan because it is not possible for me to regulate my body. “I need it.… “What do you need? Oh... the wound on the arm… “I need Mikhail... I can't wait any longer. I need to link up, call him please.” I say complaining about the discomfort I feel. Lake closes the door and orders us to move, so, although I cry because of the discomfort I feel, I am relieved that we are leaving for his territory. But, what happens is that Lake gives off her pheromones while getting naked. “What's wrong with you? do you want to kill me?” I ask in the middle of whining.

A soft smile grew on her lips. “She became stronger,” she lifted her chin and replied. “She indeed has,” he agreed. Rosalie looked ahead and realized they had come to a lake. The moon’s reflection could be seen in the water. Her mouth hung open in awe when she saw beautiful lights swimming through the water. Most of them swirl around the reflection of moon but not touching it as if they revere it. “What is that?” she asked half curious, half awed as they neared the lake. “Glowfish. They glow at night,” he sat down near the lake and motioned her to do the same. She followed suit. Her eyes refused to remove from her new discovery.

The crimson-stained lake slowly transformed, its red hue lightening into soft pink. “Iris… come, baby,” Dark called. From beneath, a little girl rose from the waters, her smile radiant like a goddess. “It’s time to let me take care of my people,” Iris smirked. They watched as the lake’s waters surged, overflowing yet sparing Dark and the others. “No… no, this can’t be. We can’t lose!” Clair screamed, but it was too late. The Lakes were rising, and nothing could stop them now.

Dwelling in the past was clearly getting me nowhere. We had breakfast and as soon as we were done headed off to the first place on the to-do list; Crescent Moon springs. It was probably the most famous water body in the Lycan kingdom. Everybody knew about it, and the water was rumored to have healing properties. It was believed that this was the place where the first Lycan shed tears. Apparently, its tear had broken the earth and created the crescent moon spring. It was a nice story, but everybody knew it was a myth.

I called anxiously. “Watch,” he replied, his eyes fixed on the center of the lake. The water directly before me began to bubble, then rise. A single droplet separated from the lake, hovering in the air. It wasn’t water, though. It looked more like a diamond, and it shone brightly in the moonlight from every angle. “What is that?” I whispered. “The Tear of the Moon Goddess,” my father explained reverently. “Legend says she wept when she gave her power to the first wolves. Her tears crystallized and sank into the earth, appearing only when true need arises.”

They pulsed with a faint light that seemed to breathe in rhythm with the lake. The twins stood on either side of her, their faces lit by the radiance, their eyes wide with wonder. Lily's hands were clasped together, her lips parted in a silent prayer. Her golden hair floated around her shoulders as though lifted by an invisible breeze, and her silver-gold eyes reflected the light of the lake like twin mirrors. Leo stood tall, his shoulders squared, his jaw set with a determination that reminded Elena so much of Kaelen that her heart ached. The world of eternal night was now trapped beneath the lake’s calm waters. She lay on her back and felt water lap at her fingers and body as she floated along the surface. It was no surprise to her that it was where she had found herself. Leonidas would have placed her within the Moon Lake to affirm her connection to the Goddess. The re-connection needed to be strong. The lake was a direct mirror to the eternal realm and the purest connection to the Goddess and the powers that she bestowed upon the Conduit. She would soon need to retake her vows to finalise the bond and enable all of her abilities.

She had not been able to say goodbye, nor had she been able to talk to Lyle since before they spoke with Christos. Amaris got out of bed and headed to the bathroom. She turned the light on and closed the door. As she walked by the mirror she saw writing on the mirror that simply said 'Sorry'. Amaris froze looking at the mirror. "Anna!" was all she could get out.
