“Well, well, Emma,” he drawled, as if he were expecting my call, “Took you long enough. I was beginning to think you’d lost your nerve.”
I exhaled sharply, keeping my voice steady even though my fingers trembled slightly, “This is your last chance Sam. Come out now, surrender. It’s over.”
There was a pause, then a chuckle.
“Over?” He repeated the word like it was some kind of joke, “You really think you have me cornered? That I’ll just walk out with my hands up, begging for mercy?”
