Knowing and studying the past shed light on the errors of ways, on both the atrocities and humanistic end of behavior. It was supposed to teach future generations what to or not to do if given the choice. Wasn't it up to him and his brothers to learn from their ancestors' mistakes? "What are you saying?" Riley crossed his arms and widened his stance. "Do you believe the sisters? That we're cursed and part of some twisted destiny?"

Kasey touched the bandage over her left eye with her good arm, sighing softly. "But not everything can be bought with money..." Shobek finally gathered the courage to touch her. Taking her good hand he gently rubbed the back of it with his thumb. Kasey looked at him questionably. "You can't buy love... Sure you can buy sex and hookers and could easily buy over a lover. But true love doesn't come from money. If someone fell in love because you had money, they only fell for the money, not the person. They wouldn't think twice about killing you and taking the money for themselves. I've watched plenty of people do it. You can't buy true love and happiness." Kasey looked away, "that's so cheesy."

There was no deeper meaning given about the story. This was how every lesson in school was. We learned the bare minimum and nothing beyond that. There was a reason we were required to study the classical writings to the complex math problems to protein chains. Don't even get me started with the sorry excuse of what they called history class here. It was all a joke.

He set a syllabus in front of me, keeping eye contact with me the whole time. While he stood up there lecturing I tried to concentrate on the words he was saying. It was probably the most difficult lesson I have sat through. All I could do was watch him. He moved so smoothly across his little stage. It was mesmerizing. It is at these moments that he usually shows his wisdom and only his steward can match it. “There is a reason why we study history,” the steward replied “We not only learn about the past for the heck of it, we need to understand why the past happened; we need to understand why the predecessors failed and we need to understand what made them successful. We need to prevent the events that led to their failure and improve on the things that made them successful.”

But then he could only reply with a grimace, "Why don't I remember either? Oh, I hate this." Alen exhaled harshly, "Why do you want to know about this, Riley?" Riley looked at his friend and explained, "Oh, Alen. By learning the history, we can know the steps that were taken in the past and this can be taken into consideration to overcome this war. This will be very useful for our kingdom." Alen shook his head, disagreeing. "We are already at war, it is no longer possible to solve this problem in any other way. War is the only way to determine who has the upper hand."
