We reached the mossy stones, and I crouched, showing him the small, brown-capped mushrooms that grew in clusters.
“These are safe,” I said. “See the underside? The pattern. And the smell.”
Ronan crouched too, far too big to crouch comfortably, but he did it anyway.
He leaned close, sniffed, then frowned. “Smells like dirt.”
I snorted. “It’s a mushroom.”
He looked at me, offended. “I expected something more… floral. Considering you make everything sound pretty.”
