Luis says, announcing me, but clearly, they all decide not to think he's talking about me, but look towards the door again. "Welcome, Halo Dusk," Luis announces as he points at me. His face splits into a huge grin as he turns to me. No one reacts. All they do is stare at me and back at the door, and look around. They refuse to believe Luis is talking about me, so I clear my throat. "Hello, everyone. I'm Halo's Dusk, the writer of Midnight Library. It's nice to meet everyone." Silence. Luis's eyes move directly to me with his smile widening. They all follow his gaze again and yet, nobody moves or even breathes. They're too stunned to say anything.

I didn’t even try to fight much before I opened it. The first few pages were notes. Each had different underlined headings like training schedules, ideas for improving pack defenses. I kept scrolling, breezing over the words until I reached a page that didn’t have a heading like the rest. It just started with one sentence that stopped me from breathing. ‘Her name is Mia.’ At that point, I knew I should stop. But I couldn't. Not even a hurricane would have pulled me from that book.

And I walk to the door but before I open it I dim the light to set the mood more sensually. "Password?" I ask, sticking out only one side of my face. Midnight has wet hair and looks excited as she answers, "Vendetta," "Come in, Miss. Welcome to your love nest." Midnight enters looking almost as uncomfortable as Baxter, but almost as excited as I am. A strange mix. I close the door and clear my throat as she walks over to the board and admires my work. "This is..." she tries to hide it but I can see she doesn't quite understand what's in front of her eyes, "Nice."
