Another roar rumbled the Earth but this time it was not what sucked the life out of me. The men in front of my eyes had turned into monsters. Unnatural and terrifying big wolves. Not wolves... these wolves stood up like humans. "Oh, my Lord! Make it a delusion." I mumbled as my wits left me. The monster-cum-Jordan eyes fell on me when I tried to make an attempt at life. He snatched me up by the waist in his claws. "God, let it be a dream! Please!" I took a breath in to shout my heart out as my last ditch effort before death when another scream breached the cruel forest.

ADDIE POV Over the top of my head soared two wolves who landed lightly on their feet, putting themselves between me and my attackers. One of the wolves was jet black with a grey chest. The other wolf was a beautiful bronze metal color. He shimmered in the sun like his hair was molten under the surface. The bronze wolf killed his prey quickly while the other wolf managed to catch his wolf, holding him prisoner. Soon the entire beach was covered with warriors from the Firehole River Pack. The rogue wolf was given to several of those wolves and they left with the prisoner in tow.

Something in between. The serum wolves are coming.

But even the loss of one pack member felt unbearable. I scoured the fighting crowd for Miles and Millie. Miles appeared first. He and Ralf were at an impasse; Ralf appeared weary. The silver and wolf’s bane must have done a number on him. Millie was facing off two medium-sized wolves and holding her own. Although Millie did not train as an enforcer, she’d practised as a warrior since we were little, and she could take on any wolf, alpha alike. We were progressing, and it seemed victory would be ours. The wolf’s bane had weakened Ralf’s men, and their strength waned. I sighed in relief. A miraculous victory seemed imminent.

"She gives me a god and leaves me in a cage." The Goddess does not choose the shallow, the wolf countered, her voice sounding like grinding stones. You are the last of the Millennium line, a warrior in a servant's skin. You look at your chains, but you have forgotten you are the one who holds the key, for your true mate is already drawing breath in your territory. He is the fire to your ice, so do not let this pack extinguish you before he arrives. The moon mark on my hand flared with a blinding, silver light, the vibration traveling up my arm to rattle my teeth as the world began to tilt, leaving the silver void to bleed right back into the greasy darkness of reality.

Annabel snapped, shaking him off. Evangeline raised a hand, her voice cold and commanding. “Enough games.” The shadow surged, splitting into tendrils that writhed and shot toward the wolves. Annabel pushed forward, slashing at the nearest one. Her claws met resistance, as though cutting through dense fog, but the tendril recoiled, retreating momentarily. “Regroup!” Annabel ordered, rallying her scattered wolves. Mila appeared at her side, her breathing labored but her stance steady. “What is that thing?”

The wounds of the past began to fade, replaced by a collective determination to live life on their terms. Three years later, the golden light of the morning sun bathed Nampa in a warm glow. The werewolves, living in harmony with nature, carried out their daily routines. In the heart of the pack's territory, Luna and Alpha Burst observed the vibrant life unfolding before them. Mira, now five years old, displayed an extraordinary talent for combat. Her training with the wolves, initiated at a young age, had blossomed into a remarkable proficiency. The pack members marvelled at Mira's innate strength and strategic prowess, a testament to the resilient spirit that ran in her blood.

I whispered. "The wolves who trained under the previous ruler were loyal to him," Mira said quietly beside me. "When Zayden came back to the territory those wolves chose to fight rather than submit." "What happened to them?" I asked. "Some fled," she said. "Some didn't." I looked at her. "He was twenty two," I said. "Yes," she said. I turned back to the courtyard. The warrior was breathing hard now. His technique was breaking down at the edges but he kept going. Kept resetting and kept throwing himself back into it.

A howl with a purpose. A quarter of the warriors followed and shifted, the sound of bones breaking and skin tearing serving as the music as the sun started to set. The battle willl stretch ‘til night. In place of the men were wolves, all mighty and ferocious. Fierce slit eyes, a magnificent mane of fur, and razor sharp nails digging the soil. The wolves sat and it was the others’ cue to climb onto them. Atleast four men could ride one wolf. Another howl came from Flavian, and altogether, the wolves huffed and took a leap. In the blink of an eye, all that was left of them were dust from the utter speed.
