Neither did I. The house settled into darkness. But sleep didn’t come easily. Not for me. Not for her. The wind outside moved differently now. Slower. Heavier. Like it was carrying something it didn’t want to drop. I sat in the main room, watching the sealed door. Seraphine stayed on the couch. Quiet. Too quiet. Then it started. A whisper. Not inside the room. Not outside either. Just… near. The air flickered. One of the charms on the wall dimmed.

~ DANIELLE ~ Darkness. Silence. There was a distant, rhythmic heart monitor in the background. Beep-beep-beep. Muffled voices, unclear words, like people were speaking underwater. Fluorescent lights threatened to blind my eyes as I forced them open. The acrid scent of medicine whipped through my nostrils as I caught a glimpse of the soft, muted blue of a nurse’s uniform. “Doctor, I think she’s awake.” The voice sounded faint but near at the same time. I swallowed forcefully, feeling an aching pain at the back of my throat.

All she said was we would find our mate when the time was right. When we first saw her at Golden Moon, it felt like everything had come together. Nothing was strange or awkward with the three of us. We may not be the average mates, but Misty isn't the average luna. She's the daughter of a goddess. When we had sex with her the first time, it was incredible. She's perfect. When we reach our bedroom, Misty sits on the side of the bed. She looks like she's in shock. Ivan sits beside her, and I kneel in front of her.

I needed that, I wanted it badly. I clicked through the options and settled on a show I vaguely remembered from better days. A crime series, the kind with thrilling plots, morally ambiguous characters, and episodes that ended with your heart hammering in your chest. I pressed play. The sound wrapped around me like a warm blanket. And just like that, I was somewhere else, I was taken into the movie world in a wrap, it was very captivating, full of suspense, each episode had an unresistable cliffhanger that kept me going.

Lightning crackled in the sky, and a silvery-blue mist appeared. The silvery-blue mist thickened around the battlefield, swirling like a storm and drawing every pair of eyes while lightning crackled above. A strange stillness fell over the chaos, while time itself was holding its breath. Then, out of the mist, two figures stepped forward, Jordyn and Dan. Their faces set with steely determination. Behind them, a massive army of hybrids and witches emerged, their presence crackling with power that pulsed in the air.

“My lady?” “Where have you been the whole effin night?” “My lady,” she said, her eyes kinda confuse, “this place has no day or night. But let's say I'm away the whole night, perhaps because I'm enjoying the feast?” “Feast?” She shrugged, trying hard to hide the confussion in her eyes. “Well-” “Don't you dare to hide a single information from me, Misty!” I almost couldn't stop myself from bursting out. Misty kinda shaken but only sigh after. She said, trying to remember the vague of memory, “I'm hunting-”

We’re close. “Get your spell ready,” Mist says. I nod, prepping the incantation. It’s simple—a few words, a gesture. But devastating if done right. At the tree line, I can see our people fighting like hell—but they’re vastly outnumbered. Mist splits us down the middle with a sweep of her arms, sending half left, half right. Once everyone’s in position, she gives me a nod. I push my hands out and whisper the final word. The ripple of the spell is visible—like a wave of shadowed energy sweeping across the battlefield. One by one, the demons and enemy gods flinch, their confidence crumbling. They go on the defensive. Some even turn to flee.

That was until I realized someone was yelling. “Why are you guys all fussing over her? Missy knows her place. She knows she doesn’t belong here.” “Missy?” Dean repeated, his eyes doing that blue glowy thing. “Missy Mistake,” I said. “That was my name in the pack, because of the whole Harry wasn’t my dad.” “Wow,” Dean said, shaking his head. “What?” Beth asked, looking genuinely confused. “Why are you all pretending that isn’t a problem?”

he sneered. “I-it was a long time ago… Let’s forget about it,” she whispered with a frightened expression. “It’s been a long time, but… Because of that incident I had to end up like this, locked up. Now, you have to pay for everything!” “W-what are you—” “Shut up, or I will tell everyone what happened between us,” he threatened as he pulled Elise out of his room. That incident has already passed, exactly 8 years ago, when a misunderstanding made the two of them unable to forget each other, a time when both of them were too young to understand what happened between the two of them.

It was downright upsetting as it was disappointing. Surely, there was a mistake somewhere. She could not be his mate. He thought to him self as he made his way through the stony path that led up to a thatched tree house. Misty Plane was an alternate universe tethered to earth, just like that of the wolves. It shared celestial bodies with the galaxies, but existed within its own atmosphere. The weather here was always cloudy, with no visible sunlight in the sky. Mists swirled around constantly, obscuring the general surroundings, so that only 100 meters could be seen within 360 degrees vantage point.
