Ethan Shaw is dead. His face has been destroyed and his limbs severed. When his body reaches the morgue, the person who performs the autopsy is his own wife, Dr. Vivian Sullivan. She is a cool, rational professor of forensic pathology, and she is the woman Ethan loved for more than a decade. Six years ago he lost his voice saving her life, and she married him because of it. In all the years that followed, she remembered every one of his follow-up appointments yet never once remembered his birthday. She tended his injuries, but gave every ounce of warmth and favor she had to his younger brother. Right up until the moment he died, Ethan was calling her, over and over. And she hung up on h

It is there that Evelyn works, a twenty-three-year-old girl with eyes that carry storms and a past she prefers to keep buried in the depths of oblivion. Eve is not just a dancer. She is a survivor. Orphaned since the age of fifteen, she learned early that her body could be a bargaining chip in a world that devours the vulnerable. But what no one knows — not even she — is that in her veins runs an ancestral heritage: the blood of the ancient Lilim, women created to hunt and imprison demons of lust. Mortyss is not a man. He never was.

"The villagers intervened, Your Majesty. They gathered before Thorac could capture the woman." Neferaset's jaw clenched. "Useless." She turned sharply toward the woman standing quietly beside the balcony. Unlike the palace priests dressed in pure white, this woman wore flowing black robes embroidered with silver symbols long forbidden by the temples. Madam Elena. Officially, she was the royal court seer. Unofficially… She was the only person in Egypt who still practiced the forbidden arts hidden from the gods' temples. Her pale fingers rested lightly upon a crystal bowl filled with dark water.

"Okay, Mummy. I trust you." Evelyn's smile widened, not from her daughter's submission, but from the memories that were hitting her like a tidal wave. For a second, she drifted off, thinking of many years ago. Right there in the little cafe years ago, she was plotting something just like this. She hadn't just picked the place randomly, no, it was the same location where she had orchestrated Megan's mother's death years ago.

The butler replied. Zayn went to the study. He saw Evelyn sitting on the chair behind the desk, her head was on one of the books on the desk as she slept off. He walked over to her. He gazed at the book she was sleeping on, it was open and the notes she made were about it. 'Did she sleep all day or what?' He thought, biting back a smile. From his observation, she was only able to cover so little of just the book she was sleeping on, which was about the constitution of the Lycan race and council and their inaugurate histories.

Chapter 19 SELENE'S POV DID MUMMY GET A NEW JOB? I was so delighted after the surprise that morning as I wasn't really expecting a birthday present. The past couple of days had been hectic for both of us. From Mummy losing her job to us losing our home and everything I was not sure mummy would be able to afford a birthday present and to my amazement, she did and I could barely contain my joy. After the surprise, mummy got so engrossed in her phone and I was wondering if mummy has gotten another job probably as a Customer care service provider because her phone kept buzzing and been in and out the house for the most of the morning.

Listening to her Riley kept silent, staring suspiciously at Milky who was only a year younger than her. She could not forget that back when she slit her wrists, lying in that tub filled with hot water, she lost so much blood she could not even move. Even so, Milly did not inform the doctor or even Xavier she just seat there waiting for her to die if not then Xavier had suddenly returned and suspected something was wrong, kicking the door down and carrying her out from that blood-filled tub, she probably would not have lived to obtain the divorce papers that she was foolishly fighting for.

He dragged me along with him, and I could only watch him as he sped so quickly down the road that his tires almost gave off sparks. He knocked down the barrier in front of the police station. “What’s going on, Mr. Lewis?” The security guard chased after him in shock. “Weren’t you supposed to get married today?” But Jim just ignored him. At that moment, Zephyr was staring at my mummified corpse in the dissection room with a conflicted face. “To think that you died five years ago, Luna. Perhaps we were—”

Ethan smiled back, his eyes crawling at the corners. "Anytime, beautiful," he whispered, taking her hand and leading her out of the room. As they walked down the corridor, Isabella felt a sense of contentment wash over her. She had Ethan, Lucas, and a life that was full of love and laughter. What more could she ask for? *** The gates of the cemetery creaked open, and Andrea car glided in, the sound of gravel crunching beneath the tires echoing through the silence. Andrea stepped out of the car, his eyes scanning the rows of graves, his face a mask of solemnity.
