Chapter 18: An Unforgettable One Night Stand Part 1 Landon’s P.O.V One week ago… “Fucking bastards!” I heard the guy yell as he fled from the washroom, leaving us all behind as he uttered a stream of curses under his breath. I looked back at Night, who I had helped get off the floor in the meantime as Kai beat the other man to a pulp. Of course I recognized that prick. There was no way I would forget that face easily. He was Night’s ex from high school that all of us had warned him against but Night hadn't listened…until it had been too late.

He was very sure the reason why everyone didn't know about their contracted marriage yet was because of how they met. Through a one night stand, she is probably embarrassed about it. He could still remember that night so well, she was so scared and trembled at his touch. He could still recall the way she cried while he had sex with her, he could recall when she passed out and he had to stop. He couldn't keep having sex with an unconscious person. He hurt her that night, he knew he did. He was her first, he was so sure he was her first in everything. His little pretty Lilyana.

He is not the person I knew. "I'm sorry. Good night" I muttered and rushed to the bedroom. I was embarrassed by myself. Even for a moment, I thought he'd talk to me. Now I know things would never be the same. Every inch of my body was freezing painfully but it was not because of the weather. I closed my eyes but never slept because all I could see was those deep black eyes that were darker than the universe.

The Night Before That night, I lay awake, my mind racing with thoughts of tomorrow. Phoenix's words echoed in my mind: "Forever, my love." I smiled, feeling a sense of calm wash over me. “There’s something I need to tell you. Something I should have told you right from the start.” She raised her head and looked at me, her eyes soft and inviting, like she had all the time in the world for me. That look alone was enough to make my eyes sting with the threat of tears, but I swallowed them back, forcing myself to keep it together. “Do you remember the night we went to a club?” I began with a deep breath. “The last night I spent here before moving. Do you remember?” “Yeah, I do.” “Then you should remember the guy I met that night,” I continued. “The guy i well- had a one night stand with.”

I loudly declared despite the darkness of the night that was being contrasted by the moon and told the person that whoever they were they should just reveal themselves instead of hiding. It was at this point that he came out from the shadows and I couldn't believe it. I held my breath for a second thinking that I must be dreaming. I must be in some kind of hallucination or something of the sort but it was when he came close enough that I was able to touch his face and I knew it was him, it was Kian. But quickly, I retracted myself. After what happened last night, I was not supposed to just throw myself at him like a shameless whore.

When I opened the door, his expression told me everything. He knew. Or worse—he believed her. “I got your message,” I said. “I didn’t send one,” he replied. I stepped aside. He walked in. No suit. No tie. Just a long-sleeved black tee and jeans, like he didn’t want armor between us. We stood in the living room like strangers. “I need to ask you something,” he said quietly. I nodded once. And then he said it: “Did you know who I was that night?”

Eyes full of love. We move together, building. We come softly, tears of joy mixing. “I love you forever,” he whispers. “Forever.” Sleep comes peacefully. Morning light. Then my phone buzzes. She pondered. Her gaze landed on her phone, and that was what she needed to get her answers. Without hesitation, she walked to the bed, picked her phone and dialed her dad’s number. The call was answered immediately and she faked a smile, forgetting it was an audio call. “Hi, dad. Good morning.” She spoke first. “How was your first night there?” He asked over the phone. Her first night there? She would have said it was perfect, if only Hardin didn’t had to ruin it with the life threatening text.
