I say. “But you can feel that I won’t hurt you, right? I didn’t ever want to hurt you. Or frighten you. I’m sorry that I did. I—I was rough, and—I didn’t understand that—” He’s talking about the nest beside the river. No, no, no. I don’t want to talk about that. Not with him. Not ever. “I’ve never heard of any of these before,” I interrupt, scooting over to the apple crate and picking up the book with the sun on the cover. I thumb through the pages. “What are they about?”

The little goblin stood this way, the book held tightly in her hands, her lips moving silently. "Well?" Mike asked after nearly a minute had passed. "Tink doesn't remember." Shoulders slumping, Tink handed the book to Mike. "Maybe husband figure out?" "We'll see." Opening the book, he was surprised to see the words swim across the page, the text fixing itself in place before his eyes. Expecting some profound piece of magic, he realized he was looking at a fairly simple recipe for peanut butter cookies. Flipping back and forth, he saw that the recipe was the same on every page.

Ekoro, and she turned back to see her star student, Cody Yan. Something was fishy about what Cody said,and Mrs. Ekoro didn’t seem like she was buying the story. She asked Arlene to show her the book, and luckily for her she had an empty note with her, so she got them out with shaky hands. Mrs. Ekoro flipped through the book, and when she found nothing in it, she pressed further on the issue. She asked Cody if it was really his, because it was purple and had butterflies all over. Cody said he loved butterflies and he got the new book because of his lead role, he had a lot to study and memorise. Well that did the trick.

Natasha's POV "Which should we read next?" I asked, tucking the blanket around Rose. "Three Little Pigs, Ugly Duckling and Charlotte's Web." "Charlotte's Web!" She said, grinning. "Good choice," I flipped the book open, cleared my throat and dropped my voice low and dramatic. "Once upon a time, on a small farm, there lived a friendly and wise spider-" Rose burst into giggles before I could finish that line. I tried to pull a straight face but the sound drew a laugh from me. "Alright, alright."

Her excited bark fills the forest as she pulls out an old book that was buried in the ground. She picks it up and they all begin running back to the day camp to check back in. I am impressed at how fast they found the book. It is not exactly large so they had to work hard to find it. The witches even covered up the hole with grass so that nobody would be able to tell by the disturbed grass alone. "They did rather well. Do you think that they won?" Dante asks as we follow at a distance.

I feel like I’m dragging a dead weight after sitting for so many hours, and my apprehension isn’t exactly making me limber on my feet. Meadow locks the truck with the keys Carmen hands off and we turn and stare at the trees where the birds seem to be patiently waiting on us. It’s unnerving and they are all quietly staring this way, all forty of them, like miniature models of fake birds, with that one larger especially jet black one in the center and looking like maybe he’s the leader of the bird crew. That little asshole who scared us half to death. I have my eye on that one for sure.

Can this day possibly get any worse? Emmie’s legs wobbled as she raised out of the mud pit she and her maid had been tossed into when the vehicle had thrown them. I dug deeper into the bag and found a children's storybook, ‘The Hunting Game.’ I skimmed through the pages, there no words on them only colored pictures but what I thought was a story for children was actually a morbid depiction of the game. I had to find the bird before the wolves do or they would eat its heart. There were other characters in the book like the doctor, the police, and the civilians. In total there were twenty-four of them excluding the bird, the same number we were. There were no rules written in the book only the vague riddle at the end. ‘He who has the bird has the power.’ And the warning from the voice, ‘don’t tell anyone about your role.’ My head ached

What is certain is not only cleaning the toilet or sweeping the entire yard of the orphanage, but a punishment they would never have imagined before. Emma and Diana helped Emily to enter first. Then Diana helped Emma push Emma. Mr. Footsteps Tucker was getting closer. Made the three girls panic and several times failed to attract Emma.
