He stumbled backward, his knees caving in as he collapsed to the floor.

Oliver directed his voice at Alexander. “I’m not a coward, I was just playing it safe having a plan b in case someone decides to attack me. Which you did!” Alexander replied defending himself. “I did not” Oliver immediately spat out. “Now you are lying” Ruth said expressionlessly and she let out a punch to Oliver pushing him down the cliff. “Arrh” Oliver screamed as he fell into the river below “Haha good one” Alexander and Raymond smiled. “Let’s go hear him out” Ruth said and they turned around and walked down following another path.

Blow after blow was exchanged, each one echoing through the arena, each gasp of the crowd layering the tension higher. At one point, Menar managed to slam Rina to the ground, pinning her with brute force. Gasps erupted, some shouting that it was over. Theo half-rose to his feet, his wolf howling in desperation. His vision blurred with rage and fear. But Rina didn’t break. With a swift twist of her body, she dislodged Menar’s balance and rolled free, her elbow cracking against Menar’s jaw with a sharp thud. Blood spurted from Menar’s lip, and the crowd erupted into frenzied cries.

But it died fast. Because the next exchange betrayed everything. Kade’s recovery was a fraction too slow. His foot dragged where it should have pivoted sharp. Rorik seized the opening like a starving wolf, driving a heavy shoulder into Kade’s midsection. They crashed to the raked earth in a tangle of snarls and dust. The impact jarred through the ground; I felt it even from here. The crowd surged forward on the ridge, voices rising in a chaotic wave. “Get up!” “Finish him!” Bets and howls mixed with the sharp crack of fists on flesh.

He fought with wild desperation, throwing an elbow, pushing against the weight of three officers holding him down. Eva grabbed a lamp and swung it toward an officer’s head, screaming as she tried to slip past them, her wig falling off in the struggle.
