I hugged Elvie and watched from my bedroom tower window as they spent three hours hauling precious items. “Last one, it’s the big one!” Beldon cried, now completely wasted and tottering around. Most of the other Rogues had gone to bed, he was watching every single item surface, whooping as he wrote down weights and quality. Slowly, the groans of the men audible even from my third storey window saw a huge mound of gold. It had ears, a snout, and a long lupine body. A huge golden wolf almost as tall as me. “THAT’S THE JACKPOT!” Beldon roared. “Get it boxed and on that truck! We can sort the rest out tomorrow, I want that packing up now, no damage at all!”

Vivenne replied, rolling her eyes. “Good to hear,” Alfred said. “Because if you were, my opinion of you was about to plummet.” Olivia couldn’t take her eyes off Jonathan. She’d never seen a wolf so big, and she’d definitely never seen one with golden fur. “Is he…is he a wolf of gold?” she stuttered. She thought Wolves of Gold were only fairy tales, legends in the werewolf world that likely never existed. But here was Jonathan, super-sized and donning golden fur.
