The Mute Luna Bride
She didn’t meet my eyes as she left the room.
I sat in silence for a while, the weight of her reaction was heavier than anything she could’ve said. The truth hung thick in the air now, and still somehow, I felt more alone than ever. Perhaps because I was. My world, as I knew it, was burning. And there was no one to help me.
A cool breeze brushed my cheek, and I sat up sharply, startled.
The window which Tamika had closed for the night was now slightly ajar.
And there, perched on the sill, was a sleek black owl. Its eyes glowed with an amber color in the darkness of the night. In its beak, it held a folded piece of parchment sealed with deep blue wax.
