The Scorch Trials Novels & Stories

“Come and take it” Trial Grounds, Day Six – The Circle of Fire Ava stood at the edge of the scorched arena, the scent of ash and iron heavy in the wind. The fourth trial was unlike any before it—no weapons, no teams, no guidance. Just one instruction scrawled into the stone at the entrance: "Only what burns can become true." She’d been thrown into trials of strength, wit, endurance—but this one felt personal. The ground cracked beneath her boots, steam rising in wisps from between glowing runes scorched into the stone. And somewhere in the center of the arena... the fire slept.

Her hands were everywhere—on his hips, on his back, squeezing his shoulders. “Ann,” he moaned again. He couldn't hold off much longer. He wasn't strong enough. He wasn't noble enough. He wasn't— “Ohhhhhhhhhhhh!” She convulsed beneath him, her body arching off the sofa as she screamed. Her fingers bit into his back, nails raking his skin, but he didn't care. All he knew was that she'd found her release, and it was good, and for the love of God, he could finally...

Snow had fallen overnight, covering the ground in white. It wouldn’t stay clean for long. “Three trials. Combat, strategy, and leadership. Pass two out of three, you’re Beta. Fail two, you’re out.” He looked at me like I was already out. “Begin.” *Trial 1: Combat* First opponent: Darek. Scar Eye. The beta who tried to drag me back two weeks ago. He stepped into the ring with a grin, rolling his shoulders. “You think one lucky hit makes you a warrior, mutt?”

The Luna trial challenge consisted of three phases. The trial of the body, the trial of the mind and the trial of the soul. Each trial was attempted on separate days, with a two-day interval in between. That morning, Scarlett sat beside Dylan in his study, listening to Jordan as he fully explained the trial to her. "Once you begin, you can't back out." He was saying. "If at any point you give up, it will be assumed that you are not capable and strong enough to rule the pack beside the Alpha."

Just a simple word like I didn't deserve a proper explanation. Unease gnawed at my insides as I recalled the reaction of the Council to Ronan's proposal. What exactly had Ronan gotten me into? “What are these trials?” I asked, finally. He stopped walking. “A series of tests—spiritual, mental, physical. Dangerous ones. Not many survive them. They’re ancient, sacred, and only the true Moonborn has ever been said to pass all three.” I swallowed. My throat felt dry. “You want me… to do that? Seriously? While I’m…”

With a smirk of satisfaction, she deflected his final fireball with ease, before countering with a display of her own power—She conjured a stream of fire, reminiscent of the display Thrystan had once performed on the streets of Wyrm. However, unlike his, hers lacked the intricate form of a dragon's head, instead manifesting as a raw, unbridled torrent of flames. With precision and finesse, she directed it towards Jagger, but he deftly redirected the fiery onslaught, showcasing his own mastery over flame. It became evident that she was a Scorcher, wielding the element with formidable skill.

scorch stated proudly puffing his chest "oh if you say so that it useful,do you think my blood is also useful?" he asked "well how can it not be useful of course it is I just don't know where it is useful ,we should do an experiment" scorch said Tyson nodded in response but didn't say when they will do that experiment. They are now in the office facing four mans two brothers were still cold like nothing could shake them ,as soon as Tyson arrived they were in business "so what do you want?" brown asked in a low voice but was enough for Tyson to hear it

“You told me once you were addicted to my face. Said it was your drug. Well… it’s gone now. Just scars. So please—go find someone whole.” “I’m so sorry, Jake…” Ariana choked out. “Sorry?” I laughed bitterly, my head shaking. “I wish sorry could fix it.” And then—something warm touched me. A hand. Small. Soft. Real. It was Liz. I knew how her hands felt. “Jake…” Her voice was soft, trembling. Her eyes were dripping with tears, but she didn’t look away. She wasn’t afraid. She wasn’t disgusted. She was just… there. She touched my scars like they were nothing, tracing them without being disgusted.

“The Trial hasn’t been performed since the fall of the Elder Clans!” “I dare,” I said, lifting my bleeding hand high. “Because you all forgot what it means to bleed for a crown. You preach legacy, yet fear the old ways. I don’t. You want to test me? Then do it. Tonight. I’ll walk the fire, and you’ll see who burns and who survives.” Malrick’s lips curled, reluctant admiration flickering in his eyes. “So be it. The Trial of Flame is invoked. At moonrise, you will walk the path.”

I barely recognized the girl staring back at me in the black screen. Scars ran down my face, souvenirs from the day I ran into the fire to save the photo Axel and Gloria left behind. None of it mattered anymore. Leaving him was the only thing that did.
