Dark Journal

Dark Journal

They come armoured against dread. The light surprises them. Quiet. Unhurried. Moving in slow beautiful waves along surfaces that are not quite walls and not quite air. Not the light of any sun or flame or manufactured source. Something older than all of those. Something that has been here since before light had a name. At the center of it, in the place where the light is most concentrated and most still, there is a book.

Between Breathe And Goodbye

Between Breathe And Goodbye

—and just as she was about to continue, the light appeared. It was not the green light of the Realm. It was not the white light of the hospital. It was something else, something that had no color because it contained all colors, something that was not bright because brightness was too small a word for what it was. It was the light of annihilation. The light of absolute revelation. The light that burned not the eyes but the self, the identity, the carefully constructed architecture of who Eliana thought she was and what she thought she knew.

His Secret Second

His Secret Second

I pulled them out of the drawer I had hidden them in and threw them into the trash. Ten minutes later, I fished them back out. I didn’t want some unsuspecting sanitation worker to stumble across them. So, I decided to burn them instead. I grabbed a lighter, walked outside, and was moments away from setting the first letter on fire when a thought suddenly stopped me cold. What happens to the magic in a spelled object when you burn it? I stared down at the stack of letters in my hands. I probably needed to know the answer before I did something I couldn’t take back.

THE GUARDIAN'S BRIDE

THE GUARDIAN'S BRIDE

CHAPTER 83: A safe of Secrets The silence of my office swallowed me the moment I closed the door behind me. The silence of the space was a welcome change to all that had happened, with all the words that had hit the air today. I did not bother switching on the main light; the glow from the desk lamp was turned on, and it was enough. The faint glow from the lamp cast shadows across the paneled walls, shadows that seemed to lean in as if they wanted to listen to the thoughts I tried so hard to bury. They say that no secret could be hidden forever under the sun. I had become a convicted believer in light of the recent events. So many hidden truths were coming to light.

The Broken Luna Returns

The Broken Luna Returns

Too late. The book at my side flared hot, almost burning. I gasped as a wave of pressure slammed through my chest. Something deep inside me stirred, ancient and restrained. “Selene!” Fenrir said urgently. The barrier around the spy cracked, just a hairline fracture, but it was enough. She smiled wide. “There it is,” she whispered. “The fracture in the light. Sigh...what exactly is hidden in the light?" she muttered then whistled. The tremor intensified, the stone grinding against each other. Cracks began to snake across the chamber walls.

The Secret Whisperer

The Secret Whisperer

Wolfie pressed against her side, the dog’s eyes innocent and apologetic. “It’s OK, we helped the bird to get out,” Leila said, patting the dog’s head. “I was scared, too.” But the wall’s secret opening gnawed at Leila’s curiosity until she couldn’t resist. Grabbing a flashlight, she ventured into the hidden space. It was just wide enough for her to squeeze through, and dust hung thick in the air, tickling her nose. The walls were lined with old wood, the planks creaking under her weight as she ascended a narrow staircase.

The Unwanted Sister's Alpha King

The Unwanted Sister's Alpha King

Closing my eyes, I focused, channelling her light through the length of my body, feeling it pulse stronger with every heartbeat. With trembling fingers, I hovered them above the water's surface. "Please work," I whispered, bending every atom of my being toward transferring light into liquid, imbuing it with life and healing. Slowly, from my fingertips, the light wove a tender, shimmering tapestry upon the water. I opened my eyes and gasped softly; the water sparkled with an ethereal sheen, a lake of stars condensed within the flask. Picking it up carefully, a silent plea echoed in my chest with every drop—hope entrusted to liquid light.

I'm glad i stuck it out. yes, the book is long, and at times, it does drag on, but what the author did, they did justice to the story itself. unlike most books, the endings are always a letdown. this author knew how to conclude it. continued in comments

It is a long book but I didn’t feel like it dragged out because it was so full of details and the author made sure to tie up any loose ends so it didn’t leave you wondering. Will definitely be sticking around for the fantasy version of it.

He said to her and her heart missed a beat at the thought. “I can only do the little I can, so whatever secret you know you have, …” He said. “I don’t have any secrets.” She snapped at him and he could say no more.

Reign of the Swordmaster: One Blade to Rule Them All

Reign of the Swordmaster: One Blade to Rule Them All

Just like a light bulb, the vision within a radius of ten meters suddenly became clear. Sebastian was naturally familiar with this; it's called a "Light Cocoon." It's a tiny creature, similar to a cicada, and is woven from threads excreted by spirit beasts. It can be suspended or placed anywhere. A single Light Cocoon can illuminate for several hours, making it very convenient to use. Lily Moon threw out five Light Cocoons in a row, and the village suddenly became as bright as daylight, instantly dispelling the darkness. The two began searching in the village, but after scouring the entire area, they didn't see a single person or any trace of evil spirits.

Her Secret

Her Secret

There’s a proverb, “Curiosity kills the cat.” Despite Alex's refusal, she headed to that side. She couldn't stop her feet from striding towards the hall. There wasn't much light apart from a faint yellow light coming from an ornate lamp. Though it did look eerie. After taking some more steps she halted in her steps, as something caught her peripheral vision. There’s a door at the head of the hallway. While all the other doors were new, this one remained an old crafted dark wood door and it was locked. Whose room is it? And why is it locked unlike every other room around here? Alex mentioned that storerooms were located in the basement, thus this space cannot be a storehouse either.. She touc
