The Selection Novels & Stories

It was time for the third selection to begin, the top and final selection. "Congratulations to the 25 participants who passed. This third selection is not too difficult. We just want to see how you will serve the Alphas, Betas, and Gamma in sex. You will each go into one room that has been provided and serve random man. The one who succeeds in satisfying them will be considered qualified in this selection. I'm sure all the participants have learned about this, right?"

May asked “We will do a blind vote” “What does that mean ma’am?” May was confused “Since they are over 3000, the selection will run for 2 weeks and the public will be doing the selection” “The public will be doing a selection?” “Ma’am, wouldn’t it be risky, people might steal their styles”

She asked, beaming with pride. “I have to put it on sooner or later, right?” I giggled. “Did you decide on which of the undergarments you would wear underneath?” She quizzed me. “Yes, I picked the brown with pink ribbon.” I chose the ugliest pair to shove my disdain down Ahiga’s throat. “Not the black with red lace?” She eyed me. I rolled my eyes. “Mommmm….” “Alright, alright. Come here, let me get you dressed.”

Chapman Senior rolled his eyes and shot back, "I may be old, but I'm neither deaf nor blind. Do you really think I'd get something this important wrong?" "Mr. Chapman Senior was very clear. Beatrice chose Nathaniel as her fiancé," Isaac added. George cut him off. "No, that can't be right. There must have been some mix-up!" He then turned to me, desperation in his eyes. "Bea, this is a mistake, right? You picked me, but Grandpa must have misheard." "I chose Nate," I answered with a cold smile. Nathaniel's head snapped up at the way I addressed him, and his eyes widened in disbelief.

The Selection was supposed to be destined by the fates, but that did not stop the villagers from assuming she and the other elders had a hand in the final decision. As the sun sets, the eldest, unmarried child from each household must step forward.”A ripple of unease swept over the crowd. While it had been a hundred years since the last Selection, we had all been taught the ancient texts. The text clearly stated that it was the duty of the eldest, unmarried male of each household to step forward, never a female. In all the generations since the curse began, they had never sent a female. “With all respect, Elder Ramirez, you mean for the males to step forward,

but this time silence answered him first, and that silence felt worse than anything spoken. Then it happened again, that soft, controlled sound from down the hallway, a door opening, not forced, not broken, just opened, and my body moved before thought could catch up, because I understood now, this was no longer negotiation, no longer testing. This was selection. And this time, it wasn’t choosing us. It was coming for them.

“You know how long werewolf lives are—the new King will reign for many years, Goddess willing, so it’s important that the elders make the right decision. We’ll be ruled by a Council of Elders in the interim.” “What’s the criteria to enter the Selection?” I asked. “It’s complicated,” Jax said. “It has to do with the pack—its strength and size. The alpha’s parents, the bloodline...there’s a lot to it. Ask one of your tutors. I don’t have the energy to explain it all right now.” “Oh.” I understood that Jax was grieving, but he was being a bit short with me. He must have seen the hurt on my face because he managed a reassuring smile.

"And then I told him about Vera." I go still. "What about Vera?" I say carefully. "That she was overlooked in the choosing ceremony selection not because she was considered lacking but because the final list was weighted toward established political alliances and she was considered too young." He holds my eyes. "Which is true. I pulled the selection records this afternoon." I look at him. "You pulled the selection records," I say. "Before the meeting," he says. "I wanted to know what I was working with." "When did you have time to pull selection records? We have been in the library and then you had the meeting—"

He was an older wolf and a high-ranking council member. “Lord Ulric,” I said, “you will oversee the ceremony.” He inclined his head respectfully before stepping forward, his hands clasped behind his back as he addressed the crowd. “Tonight, the selection will proceed in the traditional manner,” he announced. “Wolves will come forward, state their claim, and the bond will be tested. Any disputes will be settled accordingly.” His sharp gaze swept the ranks, second longer on the warriors before he continued. “The ranked wolves will have first selection,” he stated, his voice smooth, measured. “Followed by the hunters, then the enforcers. Finally, should there be

Kai saw the same thing. “These two,” he said after they finished and stood waiting. “Noah and Selene. You’re selected.” Selene’s slow smile deepened. Noah nodded once. Paperwork was completed, payments and additional benefits outlined. The other pairs had already left with their compensation. The suite quieted. Kai turned to Elara. “They’re the ones. You felt it too.” She had. The argument that had started this whole process felt distant now. The distance between her and Kai had narrowed into something sharper and more dangerous. The selected pair waited for further instruction. The night was only beginning, but the chapter of choosing was over. The perfect set had been found.
