The Seventh Novels & Stories

But she had Leo. Leo walked forward, slipping out of Gaia’s reach. He stood before the glowing titan of the Seventh, his small stature a stark contrast to the divine machine before him. "You're not a body," Leo said, his voice clear and ringing through the cavern. "You're just a big, lonely box." The Seventh paused. "I am the sum of all knowledge, child. I am the future."

My wedding to my fiancée, Helen Howell, was only a week away. I finished my business trip a day early and decided to surprise her. The moment I opened the door to our new place, I heard the shower running. A second later, Helen's longtime best friend, Martin Miller, walked out shirtless with my bath towel wrapped around his waist. Helen poked her head out of the bedroom and froze when she saw me. "Lawrence? I thought you weren't coming back until tomorrow." I looked at Martin. "Why is he here?" "The water at Martin's place got shut off, so he came over to shower." Helen said it like there was nothing unusual about it. My eyes dropped to the towel around his waist. "And he's using my

I don't know what happened but I fainted, and the darkness engulfed me. 𝙎𝙤 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 7𝙩𝙝 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙧, 𝙄 𝙬𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙝𝙮 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙥𝙖𝙙 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩??

Not the melodic sound from before. Words now. Clear as anything. Seven. Home. Seven. Home. Alternating. Back and forth. Like she is saying two things at once. Like she is saying they are the same thing. Seven is home. Home is seven. I look at the seven people around the table in Rome. At the document below us that is older than anything we know. At the pendant that came home today. At the gathering place being built in Mira Seca. At the community finding itself across six continents.

Baal inserted himself next with a drumbeat, "On the 6th day of Christmas, my Devil brothers gave to me, more noise than usual. I don't understand why we are singing stupid songs, but I guess I like the melody!" Satan concluded the track with the Seventh day symbolizing all seven princes, not forgetting that Satan didn't like the number 12 because of its relation to a certain Divine one, "On the 7th day of Christmas, my Devil brothers gave to me, the worst Christmas I have ever had. If I kill Asmo before sunset, know that sneaky Devil made me do it!"

“They started a war they couldn’t finish.” Serai’s lips pressed tight. “And now you think you can finish it.” Cain didn’t deny it. Avi finally spoke, her voice controlled. “Why come in groups of seven?” Serai’s gaze flicked to her. “Because seven is the old binding number. Seven is the number of threads a Circle ties to a Keeper.” Chance’s eyes narrowed. “So you’re trying to bind her?” Serai’s head snapped up. “No!” But it came too fast, too reflexive.

A final obsession she couldn’t let go of before she died. But to me? It was nothing but a contract that should’ve ended a long time ago. And now, the seven years were up. Looking around, I realized— there was nothing here worth staying for anymore.

However, Harry looked down at me from above with cold eyes. “Hailey Rane, I think you’re quite useless. Don’t you know how to put on a good show? Since you like slacking off so much, then you can just stay with the crocodiles.”

It was clear now—I was nothing more than an outsider in this house. In my previous life, I was like a wounded bird, desperately trying to survive in this cold city for seven years, only to end it all by jumping off a building. How ridiculous. I wasn't about to make the same mistakes in this life. I would learn to stand on my own, without seeking affection or pouring my heart out. I chuckled and pointed to the most unassuming thing in the corner—a necklace made from plain seashells. "I'll take that one," I said.

While there was no one at home, I quickly packed up, but I could not find my passport. I could not find it even after searching through every nook and cranny. But I did find a battered notebook. On the cover were two words. [Leave him.] With trembling fingers, I flipped the notebook open. The edges were yellowing. By the looks of it, these words had been written far earlier than the words at the bottom of the makeup box. There were only a few words on the first page, but the contents were terrifying.
