The Man Lost In the Snow
Yet, because there was still hope in my heart, even those hard days made me feel content.
The day Ethan sold his first painting, he took me out and bought me a ring. It wasn’t expensive, but it was the thought that counted. On the way back, it started snowing. He held my hand tightly as snow fell all over us, covering his hair. For no reason at all, I felt happy. I thought, if we could walk through snow together, we could grow old together.
Back then, I truly believed we would have a happy ending. That was why, even when everyone said he was dead, I stubbornly refused to leave that belief behind. In the end, though, nothing could survive the fickleness of the heart.
