Penelope, as I read on her badge, said. She had pretty hazel eyes, and I could swear her natural hair was brunette. Her teeth seemed artificial, too, and from her statement, I could tell she had difficulty pronouncing some words. Summer waved the book she had snatched from me and said. "She's not anything like us and will never be. She belongs to the trash." I scowled and yanked the book out of her hand. "I'll be waiting for you in the car if you'll excuse me," I gave her a tight-lipped smile and walked away.

Big brown eyes. She clutched a small pink envelope in her hand. “H-hello,” she said shyly. “Are you Miss Joanna?” I stood slowly, confusion gripping me. “Yes...?” She smiled. “My name is Summer.” The air left my lungs. She walked forward and held out the envelope. “My mom told me to give this to you. She said… you should know the truth.” I reached for the envelope, fingers trembling. “Where’s your mom?” “She’s outside. She didn’t want to come in.”

With a quite serious face, she stared straight into my eyes. "Please, excuse us, " she said. I turned to move aside with my friends but she grabbed me by the sleeve lightly. "No. Not you.
