It was time to let him and me go. After Henry left the room to soothe Alice again, I packed my suitcase. Then I picked up the phone. “Professor, I’m leaving tonight.” Outside, Henry was reading Alice a bedtime story. The bedroom door wasn’t closed properly, and through the gap, I could hear her giggling with delight. I picked up my bag, stepped out of the room, and never looked back.

He held it out. “This should help with the headache.” I took the pills and swallowed them down with the water, grimacing at the taste. “Thanks.” I turned toward the door. “What time is it?” His head lowered to wrist. “7pm.” “Mrs. Weston.” I looked back. Reed's expression turned serious. “Mr. Weston can't know about this. Please.”

Zezi looked at the cover, it was just a black hardcover with 'Time of Darkness' written in a large zig-zag red font. "What is the book about?" "History." Delice shrugged while she picked a book off the shelves, putting another in its place. Wasn't that like, going to mess up the order of the books? She had bigger things to worry about right now though. "How long ago? A hundred years? Two years? A thousand?" "10 years ago was the end of the datk times. It lasted more than that though." With a book in her hand, she started swaying to an empty seat by the window side.

I smiled at my silly thoughts before remembering were on a mission to stop a disease that could potentially wipe the human race off the planet. Hours passed and the room was crowded with more people. There was a huge countdown on the screen showing 30 minutes left for the second trial. Everyone was making sure everything is stabilized and calibrated. I look at the dome in the center with some sort of speakers surrounding it. “Penny for your thoughts?” Louie spoke beside me casually handing me a snack. I could see beads of sweat forming on his forehead despite the cool night air. “Thank you. So, if this works, does it mean we successfully traveled back in time?”

Popping open the buttons again, I grabbed a random book from the pile and knocked on the door. “Sorry to disturb you, but I seem to have a problem with…” I cast a cursory look at the book I’d grabbed and was appalled to see it was a literature book, “…this book.” He arched his brow. “Time to kill" by John Grisham . I got it because I was told it’s one of the books in this year’s syllabus, even though I wasn’t sure if Literature is one of the subjects you’re interested in. I haven’t read it though, so I might not be of much help.”

Cassius said with a smirk, likely mistaking my gaze on the bookshelves as me restraining myself from browsing them. Despite not feeling as enthusiastic as he assumed, I still went for the books. I let my hands trail across the spine of the books, stopping on the thickest one. I carefully pulled it out, afraid to even scratch the cover. “That’s the novel section of the books. There’s really no title on the cover because it’s printed on the first page,” Cassius explained from his bean bag. I nodded at his explanation and opened the book. My heart nearly dropped upon reading the title. Was this just a coincidence? Written in an elegant font was ‘The Second Time Around: Chronicles of Ava Midgen’

Everyone began to sympathize with what I had been through. They even cheered for me for being able to pull myself up by using my own bootstraps! Meanwhile, Scott spent days desperately trying to reach me. But honestly, I didn't have time to care. After all, as the top scorer, I was busy with endless media interviews.
