DARIUS POV Two Weeks Later The full moon came and went. We never celebrated with a festival. Too many of my pack members were fearful that the full moon has become a bad omen. Following the attack from the Forza Pack, and Lyle’s death, nobody wanted to celebrate. I was disappointed, but I understood everyone’s concern.

“Her memories are tangled. Layered over one another. I need more time to untangle them.” Valerie wanted to cry out—I could see it in her face. I watched her lips form the words, stop. Stop. But it was like she was drowning under water. It wasn’t pain, I realized. That was a look of fear. Valerie was terrified. Amara pressed on, harder. Deeper. “Focus, Valerie. You’re so close.” NO. The tether was pulled too tight. Any second it would snap. Valerie sobbed. Her body thrashed and writhed.

Half sick with anxiety, his eyes blurring for a complete minute, his head buzzing with pain and heart beating faster, he pressed his hand to his heart and tried to slow his breathing. Below lay a bowl-shaped valley twenty or thirty miles in diameter, so alkaline that it was white, barren but for a few gray tumbleweeds and a stubble of woodland scrub. It might have been formed by an asteroid impact eons ago, its outlines thawed by passaging millennia but otherwise still as primeval as any place on earth. The uneven smoothness of a large path on which mirages of water glistened intersected the valley. Along with the tiny windows in the narrow cottage, the heat phantoms gleamed and crawled.

Just thank me for that insight in case you never knew. Valerie was getting much more worried fearful of the much death that would result from the war just because the pack wants to keep her safe. She tried to get over the feeling and guts that is revolving over her mind and trying to make her nervous and going beyond to cause her to feel faint on occasion.

The drive back to the penthouse was steeped in silence, except for the faint hum of the city outside the tinted glass. Valerie sat pressed against the leather seat, arms locked tightly around herself, her breathing uneven—as if every inhale scraped her lungs raw. Behind him, Valerie stirred in the bed, pale and trembling. She pushed herself upright, her hair tumbling around her shoulders, eyes dark with a fear that was sharper than any she had felt before. She wasn’t confused anymore, wasn’t lost, she hadn’t been pushed today. She hadn’t been shot and yet her body remembered.

My voice cracked with fear, and my body went numb as the lights flickered back on, illuminating the room with a harsh light. “Oh Goddess!” Gasping, I clamped a trembling hand over my mouth as Val stood in front of me, bloodied. Deep gashes covered his chest and arms, but they were already healing, and I burst into tears as he rushed over and shattered the last few chains. “I was so scared. I was so scared, Val," I sobbed as he drew me into his arms. “I’m scared of that thing. I’m so scared,” I whispered, shaking uncontrollably in his hold.

“There would still be a way to save all the power we still have; we’d just have to dabble a little more—..” Val bore his eyes into her and she knew she was in danger. She gulped a large amount of saliva down her throat while slowly backing away. His eyes never left her. To me, this looked like a scene that plays out before the predator eat his prey; as he stalks it and the prey is afraid— Valkon being the predator and Vivian being the prey. I don’t know why, but I also felt a little scared. I tried to call out to Val, but my voice wouldn’t make a sound.

I have only 3 days left before miss Lauretta throws me out. I went to collect the bill for his meal,his girlfriend is a talkative. She talks like a parrot,I made to collect it as soon as my hands touched his,I felt a tingling sensation, I quickly took the money and left. He stood up and left. I counted the money,while counting it I saw a note.. "COUNTRY CITY MALL...7PM" Oh my god he left a note,he wanted to see me. I contemplated going. I didn't know him enough but, risks are meant to be taken .

Justin had gotten tired of running because the alcohol made him want to puke so he had to stop and walk slowly to the house. Valerie felt someone following her and she looked back at everywhere second. She walked faster in fear and soon began to run to the house. When she got there, she panted heavily and went to open the door. Her hands were sweaty from running and she couldn't type indoor pins since they changed their door lock from key to code. She looked to her side and saw a big shadow coming behind her. "Ah!" she screamed in fright. "Please, don't hurt me," she shrieked and sunk to the ground in fear as she turned to face whoever was at her back.

Her feet slipped and she was about to fall down, but he caught her and pulled her back into him. Valerie looked behind her and began to panic when she noticed how close she is standing to the edge of the cliff. Tightly she wrapped her arms around him and closed her eyes. "It is so scary" she murmured to herself, which he heard. He quirked an amused eyebrow. He realized that she is scared of heights. "Scary? Imagine if you were a dragon and is scared of heights. Then it would have been funny to see how you would fly" he said with an amused smile.
