The Westing Game Novels & Stories

The manager dug into her pay pouch, counting out some bills. “I couldn’t find you that night, and I didn’t have your number, so I held on to your pay. Here—this covers that shift and today.” “Thanks.” Violet folded the cash neatly into her pocket. “Where’s the uniform? I’ll change.” The manager handed her an outfit but then paused, eyeing her clothes. “Tonight’s Western-cowboy theme. You’re already in jeans, perfect. Just wear the top and the hat.” After changing, Violet slipped the diamond ring off her finger and tucked it into her pocket before walking out of the restroom. She was pulling her hair into a low ponytail, head down, not noticing the two people coming her way.

Windows tinted. Her phone buzzed with a message. Dante: Get in. Her pulse skipped. She could’ve ignored it, walked away. But she didn’t. Because this was the game. And if she wanted to win, she had to play. The car drove her across the city, weaving through traffic until it stopped in front of a building she didn’t recognize. It wasn’t a restaurant. It wasn’t an office. The glass façade gleamed with understated luxury, the kind that didn’t advertise but commanded.

Wendy just threw a stack of documents in his arms. When Lloyd saw that it was a lawsuit, cold sweat beaded on his forehead. “W-What’s the meaning of this?”

The moment his fingers touched the clasp, Charlotte said, "Keep wearing it." Then she looked at me. "Whoever won it gets to keep it." I let out a soft laugh. The whole room fell silent. Charlotte's eyes turned cold. Lyra frowned. "George, we were just playing a game. Why do you have to make things so awkward?" Then she stepped in front of Connor. Her voice stayed gentle, but her words carried a warning. "Connor has always been insecure. He's finally happy today. Can't you just let him have this?"

Nathaniel's Pov I sat across from Evangeline in my penthouse and watched her stare at the city lights like they could give her answers to questions she had not asked yet and I knew this conversation was going to change everything between us. We had been playing games for weeks now and the games were getting dangerous and eventually one of us was going to lose and losing in this family meant dying or disappearing or ending up in prison. I needed to make sure it was not me. And the only way to do that was to bind her to me so completely that she could not leave even if she wanted to.

If West sat down at the desk and took a single glance at the computer, he would immediately notice something was wrong. However, clearly, he had no such intention right now. Through the narrow gap in the door, I saw him drenched in sweat, rummaging frantically through the cabinets as if searching for something important. He searched for a long time but couldn’t find what he wanted. Then, without warning, he strode straight toward the lounge. Cold sweat instantly broke out on my forehead. The lounge only had a table and a bed. There was nowhere to hide. Just as West was about to push the door open, a voice stopped him.

"I'm sure they'll be great." "Are we done?" I removed my jacket and ignored her reproving look. We'd done the damn shoot. What more did she want? And why was it so fucking hot in the middle of October? "Yes, I'll email you a link to the gallery in two weeks," Winona said, unfazed by my curt reply. "Congratulations again on your engagement." Vivian thanked her again while I brushed past her toward the stairs leading away from Bethesda Terrace. I needed to put more distance between us immediately.

Okay, so now he is the one avoiding me? I sat beside East and North, I have no choice but to seat there because West is beside East and I notice that he don’t want to move. I slowly bended my legs but North helped me. I want to tell him that if he doesn’t want me to fall then he needs to fucking stop this kind of special treatment. But hell it feels good, confusing right? “I am bored” West said; he rested his head on East’s Shoulder. “Let’s play a game” he gleefully said.

Orion clarified, doing the most to keep the conversation vague enough for my father not to catch on to us, "by the way, Alpha Killian, since we're all here. Who won the game last night?" A dry chuckle rocked my father's muscular build, "You should be proud of yourself, Alpha Orion. You may have insulted me last night, but you were correct. Power was the correct answer. Multiple answers to the riddle would have been an interesting way to do things, but I was looking for just one answer and you somehow managed to figure it out. That means you and Miles are tied once more. I do hope to hold the last game tomorrow." "We look forward to the game," Miles offered my father a curt nod, "now if you'l

Why is everyone calling me? A cold, uneasy feeling spread through my chest. I scrolled through the list again, fear creeping deeper into my bones. I was still wondering when a news notification popped up on my screen. It mentioned Stanmore Global, and my breath paused a little. I clicked it quickly, and the moment the page opened, my whole body froze. It was the video of Anastasia lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Then it showed me standing there, looking worried beside her. And above it was the shocking heading:
