Awakening the White Wolf
She tried to write, tried to sketch, anything to quiet her mind, but nothing worked.
At some point, I approached the window, staring out into the dark woods beyond the manor wall, and that's when I heard it.
Scratch.
It was a very faint and short scrape,like nails against the outside stone. I froze as the scratching sounded increased by the second, and without thinking, I yanked the curtains aside and flung the window open, just to come face to face with nothing.
Nothing but night. There was no wind, no movement, not even footprints in the dirt below, but when I turned around, a slip of paper lay on my pillow again.
