Alice drove the truck silently down the road, her eyes fixed on the road ahead. She hoped they were heading in the right direction, but the unfamiliar streets and bustling city lights made her feel uneasy. The full moon still hung high in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the scene. Glancing down at the passenger seat, Alice's heart ached as she saw her brother's wrapped head, a constant reminder of their desperate mission. She prayed that the witch they sought could indeed cast a spell to regenerate his body and bring his consciousness back from the underworld.

She tried to reach to something in her jacket and I was pretty sure it wasn't a surpise gift for me. I whispered again. This time much quicker, and then she fell unconscious. “Yeah, wolfsbane doesn't protect you against witches, b*tch.” For some reason, I didn't want to drive her truck. I felt it was smarter if I took her in mine and then questioned her in my house. Now, this wasn't smart at all but I felt more comfortable doing it.

She asked and I stilled. "Why will I reject you, you're my mate." I said and she sighed. "Oh." She replied. "Alpha, I'm back." Aren said and I stood up. "I'll be with you soon." I told her leaving to meet Aren outside. Our hacker and computer operator found information about others easily. "What did you find?" I asked. "She's kinda a rogue, but not really." Aren replied. "Explain." I said. "She was the daughter of the former beta of the Crescent pack, her pack was overthrown and they had a new alpha named Alpha Rick, the alpha that has been really disturbing at times to us." He said and I swallowed, wondering what he did to her.

I concluded within my mind and in a few minutes I could smell her closer, I had covered most of the distance. There were other scents, stronger than hers, not far from her. Their scent was different from humans, forcing my eyebrows to draw closer to each other. I hastened my footsteps and closed the gap between us, but kept my distance away from her and the group of people walking behind her. I narrowed my gaze on the two guys walking behind her, and I noticed something weird, they had a mark at the back of their neck, was that a bat? and the vibe they were giving off was strange, they weren't one of us.
