They wanted to combine species and create the ultimate race. Melanie is a product of their experiments. She survived when no else had and for all intents and purposes was a success. She is a witch with the dna of a wolf. When she gets mad, her eyes shine with an amber hue and her magic takes the shape of a wolf when used. She is strong, physically and magically. However, she still carries the emotional damage from that time. It doesn’t bother me though. I have baggage of my own that she also knows about. We help each other, and she is my best friend and confidant.

Because I can control the wind. Witches and wizards are divided into three types. Elementals who can control and emit elements such as fire, air, water, and earth. An Elemental can only control one type of element and they don't need spells to do so. This is where I belonged. There are also Casters who still need spells and wands to use their magic. This is where Aunt Kyndra belongs. And then there were the Healers. Of all witches, Healers are rare and almost extinct. They could heal others using their magic but instead of that, the wound or pain of the person they treated would go to the Healers. That was why they had amazing regenerative ability, so that the wound or disease they get from

“I need to be sure. I can’t go on living like this. On… maybes.” After a pause, Rose let out a sigh, and with a hesitant hand, she took the book from me. She opened it, flipping pages before she stopped and began to read. "Witches," she began, her voice a low whisper. "Witches are beings of immense power. They are not just mortals who use spells and curses. They are faster, stronger, and more resilient than any shifter or human. They have faster reflexes and strengths they can use in fighting or defense."

I was the girl who learned to walk softly so the monsters would not hear me. "Sera! Stay down!" Alexei shouted. A blast of purple light hit the front of the SUV. The glass shattered. I screamed and covered my face. Through the broken window, I saw them. The Nightshade coven. They were standing in the middle of the road. There were ten witches. They wore long black robes. Their hands were glowing with dark magic. "They are trying to stop us!" Marcus yelled. He rolled out of the moving car and shifted into his silver-gray wolf form.

Karmina watched on with a sickly smile twisted on her devilish red lips. She raised her hands outward toward the village, and the tendrils swarmed the dirt roads. Terror clouded the atmosphere. Karmina walked on, the shift from grass to dirt against the soles of her feet. Witches had taken up arms against the ichor of Dark Magic, but to no avail. Their spells swallowed. Absorbed. Dissolved. The tendrils would wrap around them and squeezed them so tight until they popped. Karmina shut her eyes as blood rained down on her from above.
