This section explores the "Tactical-Despair of the Three-Worlds." The Martian mirrors, the Detroit roots, and the Pearl-Spires were all "Biological-Hardware." But the Oort-Static was "Metaphysical-Software." You couldn't shoot a tungsten rod at a "Void." You couldn't "Wild" a "Zero."

I whispered, my eyes scanning the darkness. Far off in the distance, I could see things that looked like giant, glowing jellyfish, their long tentacles trailing through the void like ribbons of electricity. Above us—if you could even call it 'above'—the violet moon we had just left looked like a tiny, fading marble. "This is the Between," Silas explained. His voice was a low vibration that hummed in my chest. "It’s the space the Gods forgot to finish. Nothing is real here unless we make it real."

Paul and Carlos were seen immediately nodding their heads together to confirm that they had met Liem before but were told to keep their arrival secret from Eva and Monic. These were worlds that were once thriving and brimming with life, but had been destroyed after constantly hosting the wars of powerful gods and Origin Artefacts. These were worlds that failed to survive during the Chaotic Era. One of these worlds was Alr. Alr was more desolate than any other world in the universe. There wasn’t a patch of grass or a well of water in the entire planet. It was the true definition of the word barren.
