It was strangely quiet in the confined space, so I tried to start a conversation to avoid awkwardness. "How about some music?" A rather melancholic tune started playing right then. 'Oh, can't you see it, baby? 'You've got me going crazy~ 'Wherever you go~ 'Whatever you do~ 'I will be right here waiting for you~' I was a little surprised that the frosty bigwig would be playing such a sentimental love song on loop. "I really didn't peg you for a fan, Mr. Graham."

"Without knowing what they were waiting for." The room was quiet. "How many people?" Finn asked. Roan looked at the letter again. "She didn't give a number," he said. "She said—enough." The word landed in the room with its full weight. Enough. People inside Merrick territory who had been told—by a woman with no formal standing, no structure, no name for what she was doing—to wait. To hold. To not give up. Because something was coming. The same instinct Maren had followed for twelve years.

Back then, I placed the papers in front of him, but he did not even bother reading them before signing. I asked with surprise, “Did you even read what you signed?” Julian looked up at me with a gentle smile. “There’s no need. I trust you. You’d never hurt me.” My heart skipped a beat as I met his affectionate gaze. For a moment, I thought there was still a place for me in his heart. I was just about to speak when Vivian suddenly pushed the office door open. “Didn’t we agree to watch a movie? Why are you still working? I’m counting to three. If you don’t come out now, I’m leaving.”

I asked Callum. "You'll see in a second, sugarplum." He replied with a smirk, kissing my cheek. We found the seating, and saw around thirty people sitting, many with the same book in their hands. They were chatting quietly, waiting for the author. I instantly recognized the book as A Black and White World by one of my favorite author's Zara Jones. My palms began to sweat as we sat down in the back. "Oh my God Callum, I could die right now." I whispered in excitement.

He is perfect to me and I don’t understand how a girl didn’t claim him sooner. I must’ve been off in my own world for a while because suddenly, the movie was over and Terri was asking me if I wanted to watch another. Instead of watching a rom com, though, we ended up putting on Annabelle. This time, she sat on her own, glued to the edge of her seat. I sat beside Zach, cuddled up to him.

Ivory said frostily. Wilson's heart throbbed painfully. But it was as Ivory had said—he was the cause of all this. He had no one to blame but himself. "It's okay," he said. "I know this path is a challenging one, but I'm willing to wait. I'll wait for the day when your anger fades and you accept me again."

When his boat docked near the shore, Steven didn't step onto the island. He just waited. *** Yara didn't think much of it at first. Supply day. Boats came and went all the time. Spotting one near the shore, she figured it was the delivery and headed down with Liam. But when she got there— No supplies. Just Steven, standing on the deck. She turned to leave. "Yara!" His voice stopped her. Warm. Gentle. But heavy with something she couldn't quite name. She didn't look back. Didn't walk away, either.
