“I'M HORNY” 1 I stood by my bedroom window, the curtains pulled just enough to give me a perfect, unobstructed view across the narrow alley into his floor-to-ceiling glass. The city lights outside painted everything in soft neon and gold, but my eyes were locked on the scene unfolding directly opposite me on the 12th floor.

I approach the window. The day falls slowly. The sky cries with me. And there, on the misty glass, something strange: A mark. A faint imprint, like that of a palm. Small. Delicate. I stare at it, frozen. I place my hand on it. It is cold, but the glass trembles under my fingers. And then, deep within me, a heartbeat. A presence. Fleeting. Fragile. But real. Not an illusion. Not a memory. Something else.

“Say, when our Jens grows up, will he have a split personality like his father?” Rose shuddered. “Our Jens won’t become like this.” The sound of the windows creaking, although very soft, was particularly prominent in the silent night. The two sat up together in shock. Rose said, “It’s the wind. I’ll go and close the window.” Rose walked to the bedside and closed the window. When she turned back, she saw Josephine with a hand over her mouth, staring behind her in horror. Rose turned around abruptly and saw ‘Jay Ares’ standing in front of her with a sullen face.

There was a half-curved glass floor-to-ceiling window there, and outside the window, the colorful neon lights in the downtown area of R City could be seen. Alex was lying on the U-shaped sofa by the window, with his back facing Jessie. He was smoking, and the green smoke was so dense that it blurred the air.

He had already blocked me out. I moved out of Ares' lap and sat next to the window. I felt a tear running down my cheek. I felt broken by his words. I know I’m as much his as I am Ares. I stared out of the window, drowning in my own thoughts. I didn’t notice how much time had passed when we arrived at this huge mansion.

So after looking for days, my phone never showed up, and I’ve pretty much accepted I’ll never see it again. I look around the room, trying to trace the source of the music. With a start, I realize that it’s coming from the window. The sound is coming from outside. My window is slightly ajar to let in the cool night air. I tip toe over to it, noticing how the song gets slightly louder and clearer the closer I get. What I see when I reach the window takes my breath away. A faint silvery light glows in the distant darkness of the forest, pulsing and radiating with a slow rhythm, like a phosphorescent fish glimmering in the gloomy ocean depths.

That place hadn't been repaired as instructed by Athena. Alex stood to his feet and walked towards the colored window. The broken part of the window had rough edges, sharp enough to cut through skin and as he touched the edges, he made sure not to get himself wounded. He had a special gift of seeing things. So if the impact on this window was strong enough, he would be able to catch a glimpse of whoever had fired this arrow. As he shut his eyes, he felt a slight jolt from within him. A pair of green eyes flashed in his mind's eyes and he was brought back to reality.

One late afternoon, I have to go to the hospital wing for something, and as I’m about to leave, I note a scratch on the window pane in the back. I don’t remember seeing it before. It could have been there since the very beginning, but it looks too fresh. I call Asher and show him. He checks the outside, but it has been raining recently, which means any possible tracks that might have been there have already been washed away. Only when he tries to open the window do we realize what I have found. The window nearly falls out of the window pane. Asher frowns when he looks at me.

I opened my mouth to fire back another angry response, but before a word could escape my lips, Ares turned around on his heel toward the wide-open window behind us. Without a word of warning or a backward glance, he vaulted right over the high stone ledge and fell straight through the window into the open air outside. "Ares!" I shrieked out loud, my heart dropping straight into my stomach in horror. I rushed straight to the window, throwing my hands onto the stone sill and leaning far over the ledge in fear that he had fallen flat on his face from the third-story drop. I looked down frantically, expecting to see his broken body lying on the hard cobblestones below.
