The heavens tore apart once more. The sky raged and churned, its thunderous voice drowning every sound as the next bolt of lightning gathered power above. Danial, broken and barely conscious, could only look up. His eyes were hollow yet stubborn, glinting faintly in defiance. The lightning was thicker than before—denser, alive, furious. It split the clouds apart with a crack that shook the ground. The world seemed to hold its breath.

LUNA'S POV I looked at myself in the mirror. I was different from the usual girls you'll see in New York. I had pure black hair, a round face with big gray eyes, a small nose, and a curvy shape. I was very well endowed but even though I was body confident, I got a lot of unwanted attention. I looked at the time and realized I was late. I bolted out of the house and ran as fast as I could. I couldn't wait for the bus and my workplace was just ten minutes away.

Quincy White. That name had once filled her with so much warmth and lighted her up from the inside, but now, it was all it took to plunge her mind into dread, fear, and maybe, even revenge. Quincy had been the light of her world, her little ray of sunshine, and her personal cheerleader. She had loved everything about him and she couldn't imagine her future without him.

*Crack* *Boom* The sound of thunder filled the arena once again, only this time it was much louder and several times scarier; and it wasn’t alone. A blue bolt surrounded the Lightning Emperor like an illusion before quickly disappearing, making the audience wonder whether what they saw was real or virtual. Unfortunately, everything that they saw and heard was real.

But none dared touch him. My blood boiled. They weren’t supposed to be there. I gripped the railing so hard my nails dug into the polished mahogany. Misty’s growl echoed in my chest. “No! They can’t go close to him. He’s mine!” Before I even realized her growl slipped past my lips. They all turned to look at me. Lightning’s eyes met mine for the briefest second, then he signaled to Zane. Calm. Cold. Detached. Zane walked towards the stairs as Lightning sank his fangs into one of the women’s neck. My eyes widened.

The storm came in without warning. One moment the sea beyond Black Hollow was silver and calm, and the next it was a heaving wall of iron-gray waves crashing against the cliffs. Wind screamed through the narrow streets, slamming shutters and rattling doors like impatient fists. Sixteen-year-old Mara Ellison stood at her bedroom window, heart pounding—not from the thunder, but from the light. It had flashed three times. Not lightning. The lighthouse. The old lighthouse had been dark for years.

I replied calmly, "Got it." Darren paused, clearly caught off guard. Then, he found his words again. "The eighteenth of next month is a day blessed by the Moon Goddess. That's the day for our big ceremony." There was an unusual softness in his voice, something I had not heard from him before. Before I could even respond, a sultry moan crackled through the phone. It was Betty. They were together, even as he talked to me. A dull ache spread through the wolf inside me. With the pain, tears started to spill over.

I quickly tapped my fingers on my keys and copied his skill. "Now what," said Jonathan. "You get settled, and we'll get started." He nodded and headed inside. I took a glance at part two of the Emperor's Lighting style. It had another seven moves called thunder. It made sense that the first seven moves were lightning, and these were thunder. Can't have one without the other. The seven thunder moves weren't defensive skills but countering skills. It said that it needed to be used right after a lightning skill; it was indicated in each move's description.

High in the sky, a thunder struck and the rains began to pour suddenly and violently, as though someone was persuading the rain from a powerful shrine. Ezeugo laid on the bamboo bed, listening to the sound of the rain droplets hitting the ground peevishly. His eyes moved to an old table, where a palm oil lamp rested. A cold breeze blew and the light vanished. Everywhere was dim.

'' He knelt in the grass tears streaming down his checks. My heart broke seeing him like this but my ego was too huge. It wouldn't allow me to forgive him just like that. ''Just go home, Tylor'' I sighed ''No'' He lashed. I brought my fingers up my temple and massaged the bridge of my nose. Where I stood I could see the skies ahead darken and rapidly sailing towards us. Lightning brighed the night sky and thunder rumbled the calm breeze. ''Go Tylor, there is a storm coming. You have a serious phobia for these stuff....''
