“Alright, fine. I’ll stay — but I’ll face the other way, okay?”
“Okay!” he said, grinning from ear to ear.
She turned around, pretending to examine one of the paintings on the wall while he changed. Behind her, she could hear him humming a random tune, his movements clumsy but cheerful as he struggled with the buttons.
“Cassy?” he said after a moment.
“Yes, Timmy?”
“Do you think Grandma will like my hair like this? Or should I comb it again?”
She turned slightly to glance at him — his hair already neat, just a few strands sticking out in front. “Hmm, it looks fine. Maybe just brush that part.” She pointed.
