After about 20 minutes, Gavin appeared at Thriving Dragon Bay with both men. One of them was called Casey Eckerson, and the other was Tommy Bane. Casey was about 30 and claimed to have learned martial arts directly from expert masters in Chinose. He was quite prim and proper in his dressing, looking like a proper master himself. Tommy, on the other hand, was plump and round. He looked about 40 and down to earth. He looked like an honest and hard-working middle-aged office worker. No one would think he was a fighter.

Rowan didn’t dress for the cameras. That was the first thing Casey noticed. She dressed the way she always did when she was stepping into a room that might try to chew her up—boots she could move in, black fitted pants, and a structured jacket that hugged her shoulders like a decision. Her tattoos weren’t hidden. Her hair was down, dark and glossy, brushing her collarbone. The blue of her eyes looked sharper tonight, like the color came with a warning label.

He smirks at River. River walks up to him and jabs him in the arm. "Yes. Yes I will, baby........ok.......ok......I'll see you soon.....ok. Try to calm down......ok. bye, baby." Blade hung up. I asked Hailey, whose face reddened with embarrassment. “I—I don’t know. I closed my eyes. I thought it was going to hurt him.” She pouted. Casey patted her twin’s shoulder gently, a fierce expression lighting up her eyes. They held the same rich tones of the earth as Aidan’s, along with the fire that fueled him. “I didn’t cover my eyes.” Casey said, a hint of pride in her voice. “It was black, but not like normal black…” She paused, tapping a finger against her chin. “…like the sky at night, dark and sparkly looking.”

“I can’t let you …” “Yes; you can.” He shrugged. “Besides, I’m happy to do it. Think of it as an investment in her future. You wouldn’t want to prevent me from investing in her future, now would you?” I just stood there. After a long moment of silence, I replied, “Okay.” Casey squealed as she jumped up off the chair and rushed into her bedroom to change clothes. “Casey, I want you to stay with the bodyguards. Understand?” “Yes, Mom,” she said as she walked back into the room, wearing jeans and a dress shirt as she slipped on her black boots. Then, she scooped up the bills Curt gave her lying on the table and shoved them into her pocket.

The woman beside Vienna steps forward, offering me her hand to shake next. “Casey,” she offers, and I’m immediately struck by how muscular her arms are. She’s tall, too, but she’s got a lot more bulk on her than I do. Her auburn hair is pulled back into two braids and a smattering of freckles dots her nose. “Nice to meet you,” I reply, tossing her a smile. “How long have you been on the squad?” Casey grins. “Oh, I was in your shoes two years ago,” she says, glancing over at Brock. “Don’t let this guy intimidate you, he’s a big softy.”

“She sent me that video, man—” “I don’t give a shit.” I pressed harder, watching the panic bloom in his eyes. “Take it down. Now.” He tried to shove me, but I didn’t move. “Do it, or I swear—” Casey’s smirk came back like he thought this was still a joke. “You think you can scare me? My dad owns half the board of this school, my mom runs the media here. You touch me, I’ll bury you.” I punched him hard on the face.

Casey looked directly into Lindsay’s eyes and smiled. "Yes, I am part of the special department." Tyson, who was beside him, added, "He’s the captain of the second team." Lindsay couldn’t hide her surprise. "That’s quite unexpected." She found it increasingly interesting that someone who had been used as a medium turned out to be a captain in a special department. What intrigued her even more was that both of their appearances had been altered using a special technique. If she hadn’t compared it to the family photo she’d seen, she wouldn’t have been able to tell from Casey’s current appearance that he and Olivia were half-siblings.
