Too Much Thinking Novels & Stories

I dismiss it. At first. Because exhaustion happens. Because strain happens. Because I pushed too far last night. But then— It doesn’t correct. It doesn’t stabilize. It lingers. And when Rowan is near— It eases. Not fully. But enough. Enough that I notice. Enough that I don’t like it. Enough that I start paying attention. “You’re thinking too much,” he says at one point, his voice low beside me. “I’m always thinking.” “Not like this.”

That’s the thought that keeps running through my head. It’s so fucking much.

I remained contemplative in front of my mirror for a very long time without realizing what to think about. So many things on my mind that need deep thought but at the same time I feel really tired. We don't need it's counterpart just to feel alive . I unknowingly fidget with my hands . Not being able to sleep . I allow my heavy head to sink into the soft pillow smelling like a comforting chocolaty aroma and I close my eyes . The fidgeting doesn't stop . The thinking doesn't stop . Your mind is an instrument, a tool. It is there to be used for a specific task, and when the task is completed, you lay it down. As it is, I would say about 80 to 90 percent of most people's thinking is not only repetitive and useless, but because of its dysfunctional and often negative nature, much of it is also harmful. Mostly. That thought sits heavy. What is wrong with me?

He sighs, "You've poured more than enough honey on your pancakes, princess." My eyes widen and I look at my plate. I huff and put the bottle on the table. Why am I dreaming in daylight? "I apologize," I mutter and hold the piece to stuff it into my mouth. "No worries. And yeah my love, don't think so much. I know it's impossible to forget what happened in the past but whenever you feel like your mind is struggling, just take some deep breaths and push the thought out of your mind." I nod at his words. He knows my habit of overthinking and we can't help it. Overthinking feels like a disorder sometimes and to me, it's the most dangerous disease.

The happiness of having all the questions right on the very first day may be affecting my judgment, but I really feel like I can do everything I want without thinking too much. And maybe that’s exactly my problem... overthinking. Overthinking about the consequences, about my fears, about what other people will think. About everything. I think way too much. But now, I can see the surface again... my legs are moving, I'm swimming, not sinking anymore. I can reach it.... that light. “Yes... let's watch them.”
