She was about to speak when Rory yelled grumpily, “You need the A117 reagent to detoxify Vortex? Who the fuck are you kidding?!”

It contains a highly concentrated synthetic neurotoxin. The air in the room vanished. Julian went perfectly still, his ice-blue eyes locking onto the tiny, sleeping infant in the bassinet. Lindsay quickly leafed through the stack until she found the pages that contained the results for the cultures and toxicology reports. As she started reading, she discovered that the cultures had come back with small traces of common bacteria, just as one would expect from any cut received in the Sycamore River. The surprise was in the toxicology report. What it said was not even possible. Nothing on earth contained everything that was found. I couldn’t afford to break now. "Aacckkk" I cough violently. A cough ripped through me, a violent spasm that sent pain jagging across my ribs. The sweet–rotten perfume hit my nostrils harder, more intoxicating. Pheromones, but wrong. Corrupted. Weaponized. My stomach twisted in response; the toxin was working from the inside out.

Now to find out if an antidote already exists for it. Slipping back into myself I look to the doctor. “What if it is a toxin that eventually paralyzes the individual? I wonder if you have an antidote for that type of toxin?” I questioned. He looked at me eager to share, “We rarely see that toxin. I had not thought of it, but we can try to see if it clears the sample,” he replied excitedly.
