He staggers back and gags. Andros does the same. I move closer to the safe and see what has my men gagging. I see it at the bottom of the safe. “Curtis’s favourite toy.” I say when I slam the safe shut, before turning and walking back towards the stairs.

"The red truck is on the rug," Toby said. ​He didn't move from his spot near the corner of the small pine coffee table, his fingers curled tight around the tail of Maya’s stuffed rabbit. His small knees were locked, his dark eyes wide and unblinking as the heavy oak front door swung inward, letting a sharp gust of cold mountain fog roll across the linoleum.

Toby said, holding up a box with an old car on it. “That’s great…..what is it?” I asked him. “It’s a 1956 Chevy car. Dad and I are going to build it after dinner,” Toby smiles and sits in the box beside him. “Not if you didn’t finish your homework,” Mama tells him. He nods. “I finished my homework when I got home after school and I played video games for a while,” Toby told her. “Okay. But not too long,” Mama tells papa and Toby. “Hey,” Dominic said, taking a seat next to me and kissing my cheek.

Toyota's eyes slammed shut, and her memories did a throwback to thirteen years ago. "I'm gonna be blindfolded during the s*x?" He wished he could kill it himself, only if the elders could see what he saw. He was pretty sure that monster was killing someone right now. ♾ "How are you killing me? Zayn dropped his controller and frowned at the thought of his brother leaving.

Xavier asked Toby as they sat in their usual inconspicuous spot while the other kids played around. "Nope. What's that?” "You mean your parents have never taken you to CarFest?” Xavier appeared shocked. "All the really cool kids have been to CarFest. You can win as many toy cars as you want, from small ones to the ones as big as an actual car! Cool right?" Toby's eyes were wide. “Like a really really big car?"

I don’t move an inch, I watch as Toby slowly picks up the box, opens it, takes out the bottle, twists the lid, and gulps down the poison before I move, also drinking mine. “You just drank Makish al haolan,” the digital voice announces. “What is it?” Toby finally asks, and the digital voice responds.

The stain on his pink bandage had been no bigger this morning than it had been last night. But he still looked worn, and there was a flush under his skin that she worried about.
