Sylvania sat in the taxi’s back seat, unaware that someone was following her home.
The taxi rolled to a stop in front of the apartment block. Sylvania pushed the door open and stepped out, the morning breeze brushing against her red dress. She handed the driver his fare with a smile, then walked toward the entrance.
From down the street, Marvin’s black sedan crept closer just as the taxi pulled away. He parked at the corner, leaning back in his seat with one arm on the steering wheel while scanning the building. He reached in his coat pocket and took out a small notebook. He scribbled down the street name, the number on the gate, and a quick sketch of the entrance.
