The drive back from the industrial district was a suffocating experience. The hum of the SUV’s engine was the only sound in a cabin that felt like it had been drained of all oxygen. I kept my eyes fixed on the road, my hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly that my knuckles were bone-white, looking like polished stones under the dashboard lights. Every few seconds, the image of the warehouse flashed behind my eyes—the blood, the screams of the driver, and the cold, surgical precision with which Nyla had dismantled his lies.

I won’t fall right into his trap. Metal doors beep open and men, hefty men are running out towards the cage, growling like animals. Then I see two black animals run towards me at their full speed. I am screaming and shouting for someone to get me out of the cage. The animal tries to attack me by the sides when I hear my back trap close at the same time the one on the front closes, I move to the middle as the animal's claws extend to get to me when I hear the sirens,

My hands clawed at the door handle, uselessly trying to pry it open, but it was locked tight. Trapped. We were completely trapped in this mechanical death trap, and there wasn’t a damn thing we could do about it.
