Pain rode its nerves, sharp and instructive, but it did not slow.
The harbour opened around it—deeper channels, heavier structures, old foundations sunk into bedrock and forgotten.
It felt weight ahead.
Stone layered over stone. Bone-white shapes rising from the shallows. Caverns not meant to be hollow.
The place called it.
It rose beneath Bennelong Point as dusk bled into the water, tentacles finding purchase along pylons and submerged steps. The structure above loomed like a crown of ribs, its foundations riddled with service tunnels, voids, and darkened chambers that tasted of age and neglect.
