Trembling When Waking Up Novels & Stories

My hands trembled, every trace of sleep was gone, every ounce of dizziness evaporated. I wasn’t just awake. I was wide, terrifyingly, irrevocably awake.

Torn between instinct… and the terrifying urge to reach. So I did. My hands rose. Slow. Trembling. One toward the silver. The other toward the dark. My breath shook. My chest heaved. My legs threatened to give out beneath me. And then I woke up. A gasp ripped from my throat like I’d been drowning in silence. Sweat clung to my skin. My shirt stuck to my chest and my body was damp, overheated, trembling. My hands were still in the air, still reaching for something that wasn’t there.

I was moving on autopilot, my mind drifting in and out of thoughts about him. Maybe he was in a meeting right now. Maybe he hadn’t eaten. Maybe he was sleeping too little again. I reached for a bottle of mineral water. And that’s when I noticed it. My hand was shaking. Just slightly at first. I frowned. I held the bottle tighter, thinking maybe I just needed sugar. But when I placed it in the cart, the tremor didn’t stop. It spread. Up my wrist. Into my arm. I swallowed. Suddenly my throat felt dry.

My wolf was restless, whimpering in my head and growling in desperation. I sat up, gripping my chest. The feeling radiated outwards, clawing at my ribs, down my stomach, between my thighs. This wasn’t normal. Why was I feeling this way? Before I could stop myself, a moaned slipped out quietly, and I pressed my thighs together as I wondered what was going on. My legs trembled as I got out of bed, and I stumbled into the bathroom, turning on the cold tap and splashing water on my face. It did nothing.

I wake up disoriented when I hear a noise. I realize I'm sweaty and that my hands are trembling when I look around for my beeping mobile. I irritatedly switch the alarm off. Why the fuck do I have so many alarms at such weird times? I swipe a hand on my face, peeling my shirt away from my damp skin,my mind muddled in thoughts. Shower. I need a shower. As I head to the shower, I'm irritated that my body doesn't co-operate as I slide midway into my bean bag,tears sliding my face at an alarming rate.

I woke up screaming and thrashing in bed. My body twisted in the sheets, arms flailing, legs kicking at nothing. The scream tore from my throat raw and I couldn't stop it. Couldn't control it. The sound just kept coming, echoing off the walls of my dark bedroom, filling every corner with my terror. I was sweating. Trembling. My nightgown clung to my skin, soaked through, and my heart pounded so hard I could feel it in my teeth.

My whole body trembles, a low, uncontrollable shudder that seems to resonate down to my very bones. Lance sits on the edge of the bed, his head bowed, the muscles in his back coiled tight, each ridge standing out starkly in the dim light. His hands clench and unclench at his sides, fingers flexing as if he's trying to grasp the weight of his mistake.

Mia woke up in a cold sweat, body heaving as she gasped out into the still room. Her fingers were trembling as they clutched onto the sheets desperately. It was such a stupid dream. She thought, squeezing her eyes shut, breathing in shakily and then out. In and out. In and out.

My body begins to tremble uncontrollably. Oh goddess, if this is a dream, please wake me up now…

My hand moved without thinking, sliding under the blanket. Then I froze. What…? I shot up. Yanked the covers back. And stared. Silence. Blink. Blink. “What the” I reached down again, slower this time. Touched it. Froze. That’s… That’s not supposed to be there. My fingers trembled. I gripped the sheets like they could save me. My chest rose and fell, fast, too fast. Blood roared in my ears. No. No. NO. I threw the blanket off me completely, legs splayed like I was checking for a bomb.
