My whole body trembled. “He almost killed us!” the voice screamed inside my mind, and then, suddenly, as if struck by a shock, I sat up abruptly, gasping, my chest rising and falling in a frantic rhythm. Fear took over me. Fragmented memories came back in flashes: the freezing water, the rock, the impact, the pain… My trembling hands went to the tube in my mouth. My fingers slipped on the strips of tape holding it in place. I pulled carefully, feeling my throat protest. The tube slid out, triggering a violent gag. I coughed nonstop, almost vomiting, while tears streamed down my face.

If my past caught up to me, I could lose all of it. I squeezed my eyes shut. Maybe I was overthinking. Maybe the newspaper was a mistake. Maybe that man at the market wasn't even watching me. ...Maybe I was lying to myself. I turned onto my side, staring at the wooden beams of my ceiling, forcing my breathing to slow. And with that, I drifted into a peaceful sleep. Scoff. Peaceful, my ass. Because not long after, I woke up with a gasp, my body drenched in sweat. My heart pounded so hard it felt like it might burst from my chest. My hands trembled as I pushed myself upright, trying to steady my breathing. What... what was that?

I jolted upright, breath caught somewhere between a gasp and a scream, arms wrapped tightly around my knees.

For real. I slump against the closed door of my bedroom, my back against the smooth wood. My legs tremble, but it's not fatigue. It's electricity. A pure current running under my skin, making every muscle twitch. I look at my hands. They're trembling too. I clench them into fists. It's been a whole day since I've heard from him.

I started to cry harder, and my breathing came out in short gasps. I started to shake, my hands trembled, my knees grew weak and I was crashing to the floor desperately trying to breathe. "I..I can't breathe." I choked out, reaching my hands above me. "I can't breathe." I woke up with a loud gasp, sweat dripped down my face as I looked around my environment frantically. My room lights were on and the door was slightly ajar, I saw Zeus climb my bed curiously and I jumped away from my bed.

She was such a lucky person. Her cheeks warmed into a smile then she redirected her gaze to the patiently waiting doctor. She cleared her throat softly, raising her gaze to meet the doctor’s. “Whenever this happens. My hands are always trembling. Like now.” she breathed a smile, raising her other trembling hands to him. The doctor let out a gentle nod, making a mental note of that. “I feel dizzy and sometimes I end up passing out. My heart would race too hard and I would feel completely detached from reality.”
