The Devil She Knows

The Devil She Knows

"Do you honestly think I enjoy this?" He asks, his grip around my wrist so firm, so strong, they hurt as I try to twist, to get away from him. "Enjoy seeing you squirm in my hold like this? Enjoy making you cry?" "Please let me go," I croaked, choking back tears. "Let me go, Alessio." "And then what? Risk you running back to him? You wish he would come rescue you, don't you? You love him." "I love nobody. I will never love neither of you." "And that's where we have a problem, Camille. You should love me. Me and only me. I'm your fucking husband!" — Camille Galitze is a daydreamer. Daughter of Galitze Sturm, a dangerous Bravta underboss, Camille knows her future won't be a fairy-tale, considering her father's formidable influence, and thirst for more power. Obligated to marry Richard Scarfoni, a man she doesn't love but has utmost respect for, Camille is sad. But things take a turn for the worst when, on her wedding day, Alessio Scarfoni, the rightful heir of the Bravta Mafia storms the venue, and gets married to Camille, instead of Richard. Alessio Richard is back for revenge, and all those who had a hand in his assassination attempt have their days numbered. But first, to solidify his place, he steals his younger brother's bride from underneath his thumb. Camille has only ever known Richard, but there's something about Alessio that lays just at the tip of her memory, but always out of reach each time she tries to recollect. When their twisted arrangement turns into something either of them saw coming, Camille must learn to trust and find peace in her new, blazing feelings for Alessio if she wants to live, and rule by his side as his queen.

I finished the novel and I want to say how impressed I am. Very good writing, great plot, good editing. I must say in the beginning I didn't like the way Camille was doing all the dirty things Alessio asked her to do, I wanted her to be a bit more defiant (continuation in reply)

Regretting What She Got

Regretting What She Got

The nanny, Polly Jackson, pushes me down the stairs when I'm seven months pregnant. I suffer from major blood loss and go into premature labor. Before I can question her about it, Zachary Campbell brushes me off with a lame excuse. "Polly didn't mean it. You and the baby are fine, so don't be so petty about this." I get out of bed to move around. I'm at the bathroom door when I hear Zachary and Polly's conversation. "Are you sure that wretch can stay alive, Zachary? Switching it out won't be that easy if it dies." "Don't worry about whether Daisy Jameson's baby can live, Mom. Either way, mine and Danielle's child will be the Campbell family's sole heir." I pretend I've never heard this and raise my son for 18 years. During a banquet held in honor of a share ownership transfer, Polly suddenly shows up with my mentally impaired daughter. She cries, "Mason is my grandson! It's high time he's returned to his rightful place after being raised by the wrong family for so long!" I'm unfazed. I even laugh at her words. "Fine, then!"

Swanne Lake
Such an exciting read so far! I am enjoying getting to know our main characters and discovering how their lives have come together while trying to anticipate what might happen next as each chapter is released. Having just finished the entirety of The Beta’s Daughter, this author is an amazing writer
Susan
A fantastic second novel, with a refreshingly different tone from the previous entry. The mythologies in this are very well developed and I am very excited to see how the story unfolds! The protagonist and her love interest and very engaging too and I am rooting hard for them!

Don't Give Up On Me

After I'm abducted, I call my mother, a policewoman, for help. However, she hangs up on me and stays by my adoptive sister's side. "Go to hell if you're so keen on it!" she snaps. I calmly watch as the abductors pluck my nails and torment me until none of my skin is left unharmed. In my past life, my mother actually came to my rescue. She left my adoptive sister by the roadside, and the latter ended up being violated and murdered. From then on, I became a criminal in my mother's eyes. She received an anonymous text on my adoptive sister's death anniversary. "I bet a good girl like you wouldn't want your mother to know you hired us to abduct you, right?" She thought I orchestrated the abduction because I wanted to vie for her attention. She thought that was the cause of my adoptive sister's death. "I've saved people all my life. I never would've expected my flesh and blood to be such a shameless monster! You should go to hell as atonement for killing Charlene!" She sewed my mouth shut, shattered every bone in my body, and threw my ashes into a junkyard. When I open my eyes again, I find myself back to the day my mother makes her choice.

She Rewrote the Script

She Rewrote the Script

The Garcia family's notorious illegitimate son — violent, obsessive, and dangerously unstable — had sent out a public marriage summons. One of us, my sister or I, was to become his bride. My father, with his career in ruins and his influence dwindling, had no choice but to agree. In desperation, I begged my boyfriend Eric Jordan to return home and make our engagement official. He did rush back, travel-worn and anxious — but only to ask for my sister's hand in marriage. Shattered, I demanded to know why. Eric frowned, his voice icy. "You're just a foster daughter of the Lynch family. You've eaten their food, lived under their roof for years. And if it weren't for Willa, you would've frozen to death on the street. Now's your chance to repay her. Don't be ungrateful." I refused to stay silent. He shoved me aside in frustration. "I told you — Willa and I are only pretending. Once she's out of danger and that lunatic forgets about the proposal, we'll divorce. I'll come back for you. However, stop embarrassing yourself like this — it's pathetic." What Eric did not know was… Willa Lynch escaped the marriage. However, I did not. Later, on the day of the wedding, as the bridal car passed the Jordan family estate, I looked out the window — and locked eyes with Eric. His face turned pale as a sheet.
